…most simply, they are an effective tool to share a great amount of information in a small space.

• Printer• Copy paper• Construction paper, sentence strips, or tag board
Steps for creation – sharing information (text) with students1. In a WORD document, prepare information you wish
to share.• If you are sharing a URL, you can skip this step.
2. Open QR Code Generator program that you are going to use.
3. Follow the directions for the generator and save the QR code to your computer.
4. Open the QR Code and copy and paste it to a prepared WORD doc. • From here you can resize it to suit your needs.
5. Print and post for students.
Student Generated QR Codes
Make sure your instructions are explicit and clear.Sample Instructions:1. Once you complete Part 1 of
the assignment, follow the directions below.
2. Open URL link: http://goqr.me/
3. Choose “text”4. Copy and paste the text
from your document into the space given
5. Save QR Code as a jpeg
*At this point, you will also need to provide instructions for how you wish them to find the QR Code and turn it into you. (see next slide for Chromebook directions)
For use with a Chromebook…After students create the code, these are the steps for finding it
1. Click on the magnifying glass in the lower left-side of the screen.
2. Choose “All Apps”3. Find the app for “Files.” Click on this.4. The “Download” button will appear in a sidebar on the left-
hand side of the screen. Your QR Code will be here with the name “qrcode”
5. Drag your QR Code to Google Drive.
*From here, you will need to provide instructions on how to name the code (see next slide) and how to turn it into you.
*Remember, your students will not be able to print from the Chromebook.
Have students RENAME the QR Code…otherwise they will have folder full of QR Codes
with the same name
