Presidents’s Report

Hello everyone,

The 24th season of Quakers Hill Little Athletics is nearly over. Next year is the 25th Anniversary for QHLAC. That is a great achievement with many athletes throughout the past 24 years attending this club. Our Presentation day is on Sunday, the 2nd of April from 3pm (with doors opening at 2.30pm) at Blacktown RSL. On behalf of QHLAC committee, I hope you and your families have had a great season and I hope that continues next year and beyond. We had a disappointing end to the season, with running nights cancelled through rain or heat (5 in total from memory). The State Cross Country Championships are still to be run in June. Also the State Road Walks are on the 9th Of July which wraps up our complete season, then it will be back into it in early September 2017. There has been many positional changes to the committee this season, which for a number of reasons is disappointing, BUT let me assure you that your children always came first in my eyes and the rest of the committee. QHLAC AGM is on the 7th of May, 2017 at 4pm at Blacktown RSL. Everyone is welcome to attend and have a say in the running of your child/children’s club. All positions become vacant and anyone can stand for any position. Hope to see a lot of new faces at AGM and on the committee for season 2017/2018, for the special 25th year. This year Blacktown Hot Water are unable to make the Presentation but have donated a bike for us to raffle. A big thank you to them and all our other sponsors and volunteers for help-ing our club throughout this season. Don’t forget to support them back if you can. Wordsmith International is a family run business who specialise in supply and installation of new carpets and all aspects of flooring maintenance. Dr Stephen So is a local dentist who conducts his business at Farnham Road shops. He is already the dentist that quite a few of our athletes and their families visit and is happy to welcome new clients. Ph: 9626 8269. For any family out there in receipt of a Government $1,000 Dental Incentive please make sure you use this voucher as it only valid for a year from 1 Jan until 31 Dec. It can be used for a general clean, check-up, fluoride treatment etc. Be sure to take your letter and your Medicare card when you visit him. Volunteers Always Needed Our club is run entirely by volunteers who are mostly parents of the athletes. They generously donate their time and exper-tise for no monetary reward. So please, if you have any skill at all come along and volunteer your time to help run the club amicably, making it an enjoyable experience for all. Commit-tee members are happy to show you the ropes. All positions are declared open at the Annual General Meeting held in May every year and anyone is free to nominate for any position.

Raise the Bar Our fundraiser for Catherine House which is being run as a raffle will be finalised at the Presentation Day on 2nd April’17. Last year QHLAC donated $802 to them and this year we hope to raise even more for this worthy cause. We have al-ready been assisted by Costigan Hills Real Estate, Quakers Hill, Dr So Family Dentist & Bunnings Seven Hills. Please help this charity by buying more raffle tickets on 2nd April.
