Looking back at the preliminary task, I have learnt a lot about the process of creating a media product, I learnt most of all the amount of work that goes into making the magazine, and the variety of tools you can use to create the look you want.
I knew when I started planning my music magazine that I had to try a lot harder that I did for my college magazine, as I knew it was not as good as it could have been.
And I know I did try a lot harder with the planning what I was going to do step by step, and also documenting everything I did as I went along.
When planning my music magazine, I put a lot more effort
and thought into what I wanted the outcome of my magazine
to look like, for example my photo shoot.
As my music magazine is for a niche market and audience, I
knew I had to put thought into what I was going to use for
costume, make up and the setting/location of my photos.
However, when creating my college magazine, I did not put
thought into this and it shows when you put both photo shoots
together.
I also made sure when I began creating my
magazine that I knew what I needed to use
on Photoshop, and then learned how to use
those tools effectively to make my magazine
look like I wanted it to look. I think I cared a
lot more about how my music magazine
looked and was going to turn out more than I
did about my college magazine, and I
definitely put in more effort
I would say that the thing I learned most
while creating my music magazine product is
how to use technologies such as Photoshop
and the cameras effectively.
I put in time trying things out and seeing if
they looked good, then I would repeat it
until my magazine looked like I wanted it to.
Overall, I definitely think that my music magazine product is
a lot better than my preliminary task as I put in a lot more
effort and thought.
I also went into designing my music magazine with a clear
idea of what I wanted and stuck to it, which I think helped
a lot while I was making it.
If I was to go back and create my preliminary task again, I
would create a specific plan and stick to it instead of
making it up as I go along, and I would end up with
something a lot better than my college magazine.
