Q7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

For the preliminary task that I have done you can tell that was learning how to structure a magazine and piece together all of the different aspects e.g. Pictures, graphics, heading, subheading and cover lines. Also for the preliminary task that I have completed you can see that I was also trying to learn how to make the magazine interesting through and eye catching through the use of bright colours that stand out. What I haven't done for this preliminary task is I haven't designed the cover in a way that makes the overall aesthetic flow together instead of stand separately and look natural and less blocky and separate.

For the theme of my music magazine I have created is Rock music. This is reflected in the colours and the over all aesthetic that I have created.

For the music magazine I have created I feel like I have properly learnt how to design and produce a magazine in a way that makes it attractive and eye catching for the target audience that I have chosen for the music magazine that I have created and also so it has a nice natural flow to it and makes the magazine layout look more natural and attractive for the user so that they are more likely to buy the music magazine. Also I feel like I have learnt how to use more of an appropriate colour pallet that will properly match the overall aesthetic of the magazine that I have created compared to the magazine that I created for the preliminary task.

What I have learnt?

I have learnt to fully develop the ideas that I have for designing the magazine instead of vaguely developing some ideas just as I did for my preliminary task and develop my ideas fully to make the product to be the best and aesthetically pleasing as it could be so that it will be attractive for the audience so they are most likely to buy the magazine.

During the design process of my music magazine I have gained a deep understanding of the editing programs Photoshop and InDesign. Now I feel like can easily edit a photo or construct an article without any problem using a vast array of tools and techniques that are available on Photoshop and on InDesign.

At the start of the course I had only used Photoshop as a program a couple of times through out my time at school but throughout this course I have learnt a lot more techniques and how to use the tools that have are available on the on the Photoshop editing software.

From my prelim task and my main finished product I have learnt how to structure a magazine music cover and contents page with the correct aesthetic that will attract the chosen target audience.
