Q3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

BauerI have chosen Bauer to distribute my magazine as it distributes media products which are similar to my magazine. Such as Smash Hits, POP and Heat magazine. The reason for me picking it because it distributes the same kind of magazines is that they are experienced with it and know how to distribute them.

Another reason for me picking Bauer to be my distribution is that it is Europe’s largest privately owned publisher. This will mean that my magazine will be distributed all over Europe so it will become well known.

Also Bauer does a lot of different magazines worldwide, this could mean that my magazine could eventually become a worldwide magazine.

Bauer Media is a Europe’s biggest privately owned publishing Group. Is it a worldwide known group in media empire offering over 300 magazines in 15 countries, as well as online, TV and radio stations.

Examples of Bauer media. 4Music is one of the biggest music channels available on both Freeview, Virgin, Sky and any digital television, This makes it popular as it is available to a most people. The music channel is mostly based for the top 40 so it suits my genre of magazine.

Smash hits is a magazine and radio station. It is mostly POP music so will suit my genre.

Heat is a magazine which focuses on gossip and includes gossip for music artist and other celebrities aswell as some lifestyle magazine.

Kiss100 is a radio show, TV, Online and mobile media which is a R&B, Dance and Hip Hop station.

So where would my magazine be sold?Supermarkets- Asda and Tesco, I would want my magazine to be sold here as they are two of the UK’s leading supermarkets so would mean that my magazine would be able to be sold to a large variety of people.

Newsagents- I would expect my magazine to be sold in newsagents as the show is specific to magazines. This would mean that it would be easier for people to buy and purchase. Also people would now exactly where they could get it from.
