In what ways does your product use,

develop or challenge forms and

• I incorporated the use of a barcode and date which is found on most magazines, giving a professional appearance.

• I used similar words such as FREE in auto shapes to entice the audience, attracting their attention.

• I used bright colours for my front cover, which I noticed on many dance magazines whilst researching. I think this reflects the upbeat nature of the genre and the idea of fun. It is also very bright, therefore grabbing the eyes of the audience if it were being sold, as opposed to blunter and more basic colours merging into the crowd of competition.

Similarities• On this cover (one of

many I chose to draw inspiration from) I liked the idea of a grass background as I believe I could re-enact this as a rave scene. Due to weather conditions, I was forced to use a grass effect digitally. However, I think this worked well as it is modern and bright, which attracts my target audience of late teenagers to young adults.

• The layout of my cover is also similar in that there is blank space around the model to allow for cover lines and wording.

• As well as using the idea of bright colours as influences for my dance magazine, I also noticed the incorporation of related props with my research – in this cover a boom box is used. Therefore, I decided to make my model wear headphones to relate to the idea of music and disc jockeys. I think this was successful as it uses bright colours. I also used the colour of these to link in with my edited background.

• I also varied my use of fonts, font colours and text throughout the cover, like the covers I researched. I kept this controlled however to keep somewhat of a consistent house style.

• I don’t think my magazine challenges the forms and conventions of the real media products I researched as it has a similar audience and appearance, and I worked on that to produce a similar outcome.
