The Nubian Pyramids
The Nubian pyramids are located in Meroe, Sudan. This site holds close to 200 pyramids in a small area. These pyramids were all built in a 900 year span, between 800 B.C. and 280 A.D.
Ziggurat of Ur
This pyramid is located in Ur, Iraq. It was first built in the 21st century B.C., and reaches far back into the roots of civilization. It decayed over the years, and was restored in 6th century B.C. In 1991 it took substantial damage in the first gulf war, but still stands strong today.
Pyramid of Cestius
This pyramid is located in Rome. Italy. It was built circa 12 B.C. It is 125 feet high and 100 feet square at the base. It is largely incorporated into the modern city, and is thus one of the best preserved ancient buildings in Rome.
The Pyramids of Giza
A tour of the pyramids would not be complete without showcasing the pyramids of Giza, Egypt. This famous trio was built circa 2575– 2465 B.C. on the west bank of the Nile river. These pyramids once shone brilliantly as they were once covered in limestone. However they have since been plundered of their beauty.
