With a background in Business and New Product Development within the Electronics, Communications and Engineering spheres, Gareth is an avid innovator with a keen technical eye, having operated EV conversion and classic car restoration companies within the UK.
Gareth said: “I'm really excited to have the ability to bring EV ownership to users of a classic British vehicle. After a somewhat strange few months, July saw the official opening our our newly developed
Silverstone showroom. Based in the very heart of British motoring country, our 2,000 sq ft facility offers customers in London and the south of England the opportunity see a Twisted up close.
We also recently introduced a servicing facility from our Towcester base, allowing customers to drop their own Twisted off at much closer proximity.
A 6.2L V8 and two unique, delivery mileage diesel builds are currently on show along with the ability to design and spec your ideal Twisted build.
Charles Fawcett, our founder said: “Four years on since the last classic Defender rolled off the JLR production line, it is clear that the appetite for this iconic vehicle continues to grow. Ian joined Twisted in February 2020 to head up our new Silverstone showroom. Based a stones throw from the race track, Ian takes care of all Business aspects surrounding Silverstone. Ian’s past roles involve owning a Recycling company and acting as an Environmental consultant. Originally form Northampton, outside of work, Ian’s interests lie in the kitchen and on the golf course!
Born in Northampton, Graeme joined the company in July 2020 acting as our Sales & Experiences Manager. Graeme will be at our Silverstone base to talk all things Defender and will also take charge of experience days from our showroom. Graeme previously spent 11 years working in the steel industry for stock holders & rolling mills before a move into the world of corporate entertainment at an activity centre.

The sophisticated interior is packed with contemporary technology and comforts to suit the needs of the modern driver. Underneath the NA-V8 is a powertrain boasting 460bhp, further supported by our custom braking and suspension systems, developed with leading manufacturers.

Built to order, the NA-V8 features a modern drive-train, contemporary interior, infotainment and convenient mod-cons. With a range of paint colours, leather options and accessories to choose from, you can certainly add your own twist.
Under every NA-V8 is a DOT & EPA compliant chassis. We use a type approved chassis that is galvanised and then raptor coated. The platform comes ready made with mounts for the GM driveline and is stamped under official license.
The heart of the Twisted NA-V8 comes in the form of a monstrous yet cleverly refined GM 6.2L V8. This Fifth Generation small block engine, also known as the LT1, has motorsport pedigree that goes all the way back to 1970. Having undergone 6 million hours of research and development, the LT1 was originally destined for the Corvette Stingray, but now finds itself being transplanted into the Twisted NA-V8.

In April 2018 myself and four friends competed in the Mallorca 312 Sportive, Europe’s biggest mass participation bike ride with over 15,600ft of elevation. It took us 11 hours 36 mins to complete. A great trip!

WHEN & WHY DID YOU JOIN TWISTED?
I joined the team in June 2019 after 21 years valeting for a main dealership. I fancied a change of scenery and wanted to concentrate my efforts on quality rather than quantity.
As a vehicle detailer you aspire to work on luxury vehicles of which Twisted fit the bill. They’re not the easiest to clean but the variety keeps me on my toes!
WHAT ARE THE MAJOR CHANGES YOU HAVE SEEN AT TWISTED OVER THE YEARS?
Even in my short amount of time here I have seen a lot of change.
Overall growth and expansion has been the main factor, but a trend I have noticed, is that customer builds and ideas are getting more and more interesting and impressive!
YOUR TWISTED HIGHLIGHT IS….
My highlight would be having the responsibility of detailing and preparing a Green 110 built for China (Image: bottom right), a vehicle full of adventure and everything you need!
DRIVING A TWISTED ACROSS THE WORLD, WHICH COLLEAGUE DO YOU TAKE AND WHY?
I’d have to take Andy Dunkley, our Workshop Manager.
We were at school together in Ripon, but our jobs have meant that we haven’t crossed paths for the last 25 years or so. So a trip around the world would be a great opportunity to catch up and reminisce about the good old days when the only things we had to think about were avoiding a flat tyre on our bikes and ensuring we had enough coins in our pockets for sweets!
YOUR FAVOURITE TWISTED BUILD IS?
My favourite build has to be a Santorini Black V8 90 we built for a customer in the French Alps. It was a vehicle we initially had in stock which we then converted to LHD and made it into a real adventure spec! A very cool build!
TELL US ABOUT AN INTEREST OF YOURS
I’m a lover of the outdoors! I’m a very keen cyclist, (mainly on the road) and I’m a wannabe triathlete. I’m actually currently in training for the Nottingham Outlaw 2021 which is a full distance IronMan Triathlon.
WHAT IS YOUR DREAM CAR AND WHY
The poster I had on my wall as a kid was a Ferrari F40, so I’d say that. I’ve not yet managed to buy one, but it’s still on the list!
THE BEST THING ABOUT LIVING IN YORKSHIRE IS….
Being an outdoor enthusiast, Yorkshire offers everything I need! Plus there are plenty of friendly folk!
YOUR IDEAL PLAN FOR A SUNDAY...
A Sunday well spent would be a 100km bike ride up in the Yorkshire Dales finished off with a couple of pints of Theakstons!
WHEN YOU RETIRE YOU WANT TO….
Assuming I’ve saved enough pennies, I’d love to go and ride some of the Greatest Railway Journeys that the world has to offer. First stop would be the Canadian Rockies! After that, there are a list of places I’d love to travel!

LOCATED ON THE PERIPHERY OF THE SHROPSHIRE HILLS, A STONE'S THROW FROM WALES, AUGUST SAW TEAM TWISTED MAKE A TRIP TO A VERY EXCITING GROUP. BEAVERFIT TO BE EXACT, A TEAM OF 30 FITNESS ENTHUSIASTS WHO ARE EXPERTS IN CREATING ANTI-ORDINARY GYM EQUIPMENT.
Founded by Tom Beaver, a serial marathon runner himself, we went to learn more about how exactly he uses his Santorini Black 110, Twisted Defender.
Tom, with an entrepreneurial mindframe, has split Beaverfit into two branches:
‘Human Performance’ where home gyms are designed, manufactured and delivered and ‘Special Operations’, where training facilities are deployed to worldwide forces in some of the harshest conditions!

HOW DID YOU FIRST HEAR ABOUT TWISTED?
I’ve been a huge fan of the Defender ever since I was a teenager. I find them a timeless, classic British car that suits my lifestyle better than any other vehicle. A number of years ago, I spotted a Defender 90 station wagon, in immaculate condition at my local Land Rover® dealer. I had to have it. Proudly posting photos on Instagram, I came across Twisted. I then sent my 90 up to Yorkshire and started building her up Twisted style. I then realised I needed a bigger car, so approached Twisted to see if they had a 110 Utility.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A FAN OF THE LAND ROVER DEFENDER AND WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT IT?
I have always had a passion for Defender. My first ever car was a Land Rover Defender 90 TDI when I was just 17 years old. My parents thought I would be safer in that than a boy racer car. I was at school in the north of Scotland and during the rugby season, I would have to travel up and down the A9 on a weekly basis to train with the Scottish schoolboys rugby team in Edinburgh. A good 4 hours each way. The Defender also played a part in my first business venture, ferrying forbidden contraband into school!
WHAT SORT OF DRIVING TASKS DO YOU USE YOUR TWISTED FOR? EVERY DAY OR JUST A WEEKEND CAR?
I use my Twisted as my every-day car for work, family life and for my hobby of trail running on the Shropshire Hills with my Hungarian Vizsla, Murph.
DID YOU VISIT THE WORKSHOP WHILE THE BUILD PROCESS WAS ON-GOING AND DID YOU MAKE ANY LIVE CHANGES?
No. My Defender was at Goodwood at the time I enquired about a 110 Utility model. I didn’t add any further additions to the spec as it was already perfect!

WERE THERE ANY PARTS OF YOUR OWN PERSONALITY THAT YOU WANTED TO CAPTURE AS PART OF THE BUILD?
I wanted the car to represent my lifestyle and my company brand - BeaverFit. As a company we are a provider of quality and robust fitness/training equipment to companies like BMF by Bear Grylls and Soho House through to our core business of providing deployable container gyms to NATO militaries especially in the UK and USA.
I think the 110 does this pretty well!
WHAT’S YOUR ULTIMATE TWISTED ROAD TRIP AND WHO WOULD BE YOUR TRAVEL COMPANION FOR THE JOURNEY?
I would love to drive the ‘Scotland 500’ with my wife Jo, and two children, Otis and Harriet.
I would ideally put a pop up tent on the roof and park up on the most isolated beaches for the evenings. (Jo however, might not be up for that!)
IF NOT THE DEFENDER – WHAT’S THE NEXT CHOICE OF VEHICLE ON YOUR DRIVE?
We have always had a BMW as our second car, having just ordered an X7.
ON A SPARE SUNDAY, WHERE DO YOU TAKE YOUR TWISTED?
On a spare Sunday, I would take my son Otis and the dogs to Snowdonia or the Lakes for some hill walking and time out together.
