It is th e responsibility of th e user to acquire th e currentMV U M. T h is map sh ow s th e N ational Forest S ystem roads,N ational Forest S ystem trails, and th e areas on N ational ForestS ystem lands in th e S IT KA RAN G ER DIS T RICT th at aredesig nated for motor v eh icle use pursuant to 36 Code ofFederal Reg ulations (CFR) 212.51. T h is map also contains alist of th ose desig nated roads, trails, and areas; th e types ofv eh icles th at are allow ed on each route and in each area; andany seasonal restrictions th at apply on th ose routes and inth ose areas. Maintenance ofdesig nated roads and trails will depend on av ailable resources,and many may receiv e little maintenance. T h is motor v eh icle use map identifies th ose roads, trails,and areas desig nated for th e motor v eh icle use under 36 CFR212.51 for th e purpose of enforcing th e proh ibition at 36 CFR261.13. T h is is a limited purpose. PROHIBITIONSIt is prohibited to possess or operate a motor vehicle onNational Forest System lands on the SITKA RANGERDISTRICT other than in accordance with thesedesignations (36 CFR 261.13). V iolators of 36 CFR 261.13 are subject to a fine of up to$5,000, imprisonment for up to 6 month s or both (18 U .S .C.3571(e)). T h is proh ibition applies reg ardless of th e presenceor absence of sig ns. T h is map does not display nonmotorized uses, ov er-snow v eh icle uses, or oth er facilities and attractions on th eS IT KA RAN G ER DIS T RICT. O btain forest visitor informationfrom th e local national forest office. Desig nated roads, trails, and areas may also be subjectto temporary, emerg ency closures. As a visitor, you mustcomply with sig ns notifying you of such restrictions. Anational forest may issue an order to close a road, trail, orarea on a temporary basis to protect th e life, h ealth or safetyof forest visitors or th e natural or cultural resources in th eseareas. S uch temporary and/or emerg ency closures areconsistent with th e T rav el Manag ement Rule (36 CFR212.52 (b), 36 CFR 261 subpart B). Shelikof Bay
The North Beach Travel Management Area includes only the unvegetated beach area off Shelikof Bay; extending from the mean high tide line to the high tide line, and is bounded on the southeast by a rock outcrop. The area also includes the tidal portion of the stream on the northwest end.

The Harbor Mountain Travel Management Area begins at gate 2 on road 7576. From gate 2 the boundary runs in a southerly direction for 1600 feet to switchback 4 on road7576; then in a southwesterly direction for 2000 feet; then southeasterly for 3400 feet to the southern end of Harbor Mountain ridge; then along Harbor Mountain Ridge for 2800 feet; then down the face of Granite Creek drainage in a northerly direction for 1500 feet; then northwesterly for 1000 feet to switchback 3 on road 7576; then along road 7576 back to gate 2.Official snow depth measurements will be taken by US Forest Service personnel until specified conditions have been met. (See Travel Management Areas table). Results will be available at the Sitka Ranger District Office. Additional measurements will occur only as weather conditions warrant.
