Hypothesis• This thesis presents the hypothesis that current changes in

the family structure might have been the trigger to the current obesity epidemic in the United States. In contrast to other beliefs that marketing and the food industry’s low standard, are the main causes of the obesity widespread in the country, the modern family lifestyle is, most probably, the main factor which makes all the marketing efforts and new changes in food preparation successful. Knowing this, we can present better solutions that adapt to the new family lifestyles and offer methods that help decrease the poor eating habits linked to their time constraining situations.
