November 2016 Dear Parents / Caregivers PURCHASING STUDENT TEXTBOOKS & STATIONERY FOR 2017 I am writing regarding the options open to you for making the required textbook and stationery purchases for your child/ren in preparation for the 2017 school year. Reception to Year 6 students will receive their books and stationery on Wednesday 1 February (first day of school) with the appropriate cost ($145) charged to your fee account. Investigator College sources new textbooks and stationery through Lighthouse Books. For Year 7 to 12 students, the College provides a ‘pre-loved’ book service via the Second Hand Books site on the College website as an alternative to purchasing items new. Should you choose to purchase new books these should be ordered through Lighthouse Books. Please find attached a flyer with instructions on how to access both websites. Most Middle and Senior School subjects require textbooks/workbooks which parents/caregivers purchase for their children. New items range from $15 - $75 per subject. Year 7 & 8 students require all listed textbooks and stationery. Year 9 to 12 students will have already received a separate letter outlining their personal subject choices for 2017. Some Year 9 to 12 specialist subjects also attract a material charge. Please refer to Curriculum Booklets for more information. These charges will be included on your fee account at the start of Semesters One and Two. Whilst all textbooks should either be purchased through Lighthouse Books or via the College website to ensure correct editions etc, listed stationery can be purchased through Lighthouse Books or alternative stationery suppliers. STUDENT BOOK ORDERS FOR THE 2017 COLLEGE YEAR Lighthouse Books

Investigator College sources textbooks and stationery through Lighthouse Books.

Parents/caregivers must place an online order for students in Years 7 – 12 and are encouraged to do so

early to avoid waiting for textbooks. Order early and payment can be made to Lighthouse Books at a later date.

Book Lists All Book List enquiries should be directed to Lighthouse Books at [email protected] Phone 1300 304 168. Year 7 and 8: all listed subjects, textbooks and stationery are compulsory. Year 9 – 12: will be advised by the College of their subjects. Payment To ensure that all items are delivered to the nominated delivery address in a timely manner, payment of the account MUST BE MADE by no later than 9 January 2017. Invoices will be emailed to the nominated address as soon as the order has been placed.

Payment of the account may be made using the following methods:

1. Credit card at the time of ordering online or access your order and pay online at a later date! (a 1.5% service fee will apply)

2. Credit card over the phone (a 1.5% service fee will apply) 3. BPay 4. Cash or cheque. Please make cheques payable to Lighthouse Books.

(Cash payments can be made in person to Lighthouse Books at 116 Grange Road, Allenby Gardens.) Late Orders Orders not received by 23 December 2016 will be treated as late orders. (This does not apply to new enrolments registered by the College after 1 January 2017.) Late orders will be charged a $15.00 Service Fee, as well as the existing Admin Fee, to cover the costs of additional ordering, packaging and distribution. Confirmation and Changes A confirmation invoice will be emailed to you on completion of the order. Please help Lighthouse Books supply your exact needs by ordering carefully and accurately. Please note that stationery is not returnable.

By using your User ID and Password you can access your order details via the website at anytime. The status of your order will show on your invoice. For alterations to your order simply email [email protected] with your instructions. All paid orders will be delivered to your nominated address during early January.

Ordering Online

1. Go to www.lighthousebooks.com.au 2. Click on the “Back To School Supplies: Order Here!” 3. Select your school (and campus) and year level being

entered in 2017. 4. Type in your User ID and Password

User ID and Password at first login is: your child’s first name and last name. e.g. jonathansmit (for Jonathan Smith) (to 12 characters, all lower case, no spaces).

5. Nominate a contact email address and complete the

required personal information including delivery address.

6. Check the boxes for the subjects being undertaken by

the student. Click on “Continue”. 7. Adjust quantities for the items you require.

(We acknowledge that students may already have some stationery items listed, however all items listed will be required during the year.)

8. Once you have completed your selection requirements click on “Checkout” at the top of the page.

9. Select your payment option and then click on “Place Order”. Please note orders must be placed by 23 December 2016, with the final date for payment being 9 January 2017.

Second Hand Book Sales For Year 7-12 Students in 2017

As an alternative to purchasing items new, the College facilitates a “pre-loved” book exchange via the Second Hand Books site.

To access the site, go to the Investigator College website at www.investigator.sa.edu.au , and then click on ‘Student Portal’ at the bottom of the page.

Next, click on ‘Secondhand Store”

To set up an account, students must Register first and will need to use their school ID number for access.

Remember to record the email and password you use during registration, as you will need it each time you access the site throughout your child’s schooling at the College.

To learn how to sell and/or buy books on the site, select the ‘Help’ page from the menu at the top of the webpage.

Please record your password and the email address registered for the Second Hand Book Site and file for future use.

Transactions, payment and availability of books listed on or purchased through this service are the responsibility of the individuals involved. Secondhand books are usually around 30 - 50% cheaper than new items.
