My dear confreres,

LENT is here once again!! How have we received it!! It all depends on our recep�on of it.

To be posi�ve and to grow posi�ve in our rela�onship with others during Lent is the call of

Pope Francis and he suggests simple and prac�cal ways of living our life and the LENT in a

very meaningful and Chris�an way.

Pope Francis proposes 15 simple acts of charity as concrete manifesta�ons of love:

1. SMILE. A Chris�an is always cheerful.

2. Say THANK YOU for li�le things (even if you don't have to).

3. Remind others how much you LOVE them.

4. GREET with joy the persons you see every day.

5. LISTEN to other people's stories without prejudice and with love.

6. STOP to help. Pay a�en�on to whoever needs you.

7. Try to RAISE the spirits of people around you.

8. CELEBRATE the quali�es or success of others, thus avoiding envy or jealousy.

9. SORT OUT the things you no longer use or need, and give them to those in need.

10. Be ready to HELP when you are needed so that others may rest.

11. GIVE CORRECTIONS with love, do not keep quiet out of fear.

12. Maintain good rela�ons with those around you.

13. Keep CLEAN the things you use in the house.

14. HELP others overcome obstacles.

15. CALL, and call on, your dear ones more o�en.

On 18th February 2017, Snehalaya celebrated its 19th Annual Day with the theme 'Step by Step to a New Horizon’.

Mr. Pravin Kargan�war, Social Welfare Officer, Pune was the chief guest and Rev. Fr. Vincent Lourduswamy msfs, the

Provincial, and Chairman of Snehalaya Educa�on Society was the guest of honour. Fransalian fathers, sisters,

benefactors, well-wishers, friends and the company representa�ves and parents of our children were present.

Fr.Sunny, the director, felicitated the dis�nguished guests and supporters and benefactors in a very special way.

Children performed various entertaiment programmes with the help of various persons. Children were honoured

with special gi�s for their talents during the year. Fr.Subodh Barla, the Principal, read out the report on the various

ac�vi�es of the year and Sr.Jancy fmck proposed vote of thanks.

Chief guest Mr. Pravin Korgan�war was touched by the performance of the children. He praised the team of

Snehalaya for the great work carried out. He said that Snehalaya has the poten�al to become no. 1 Ins�tu�on of

such kind in the State and to get govt. aid for the Ins�tute.

The annual day was concluded with Snehalaya Anthem. Dinner was served for all present for the programme.

With the theme of LIVE JESUS the day began on 24th

January at Bileshwarpura mission where we the

Fransalians along with the Dominican sisters profoundly

remembered our Heavenly Patron . The children from the

village visited us and they also spent �me in praying

before the image of St. Francis de Sales and singing

bhajans. Our Archbishop Thomas Macwan was with us

the whole day. In the evening all the religious fathers,

sisters from deanery and lay faithful gathered together for

the Holy Eucharist.

The Republic Day was celebrated with humungous patrio�c spirit in St. Francis De Sales School on the 26th of

January 2017. Professor ShamsuddinTamboli lecturer at MMCC College, Pune was invited as the Chief Guest to

grace this occasion. He is also the editor of Muslim SatyashodhakPatrika, a recipient of many pres�gious awards. He

has also been selected for the world peace and friendship mission by the Government of India. A short cultural

programme was organized which included singing of patrio�c songs by the Primary and Secondary sec�on

respec�vely. Speeches were delivered in English and Hindi by the students stressing the need for trea�ng women

with dignity and on being a responsible ci�zen of the Cons�tu�on of India. W h i l e d e l i v e r i n g t h e s p e e c h

Mr. Shamsuddin stressed on the values and teachings given by Gandhiji and said character forma�on should be the

primary concern and was happy that the school laid emphasis on impar�ng values to young minds. The

achievements of the deserving students were awarded with cer�ficates and medals.

February 11th 2017 was memorial and joyful day for the parishioners of Valpoi and Birondem , as the newly built

Church of Our Lady of Lourdes was consecrated by his grace Most Rev. Filipe NeriFerrao, Archbishop – Patriarch of

Goa and Daman, in the esteemed presence of Rev. Fr. Vincent Lourduswamy MSFS, Provincial, Fr. Thomas

Fernandes MSFS, main benefactor along with many priests, religious and large mul�tude of faithful.

The process of reconstruc�ng the new church building was ini�ated by Fr. Felix Mendes and his team.

The Archbishop blessed the four walls, consecrated the new altar , the new Blessed Sacrament chapel of the new

church. The Archbishop along with the Provincial, the Parish Priest, few priests and representa�ves from the Parish

signed the Minutes of The Dedica�on of the New Church ( Decree) and unveiling of the Inaugura�on Plague was

done. A short felicita�on program was conducted during which the dignitaries and the main persons associated

with the construc�on of the church were thanked and were felicitated with a memento. The most touching part

was to see that the members from other faiths devoutly taking part in the ceremony. All those who came for the

ceremony were touched by the life size statue of Risen Jesus with his welcoming hands. They experienced the

Divine Presence of the Almighty in the newly built Church. Congrats to Frs. Daniel, Placido and Felix Mendes and the

thJoy and celebra�on resounded at Fransalian Seminary on the day of Diaconate Ordina�on on 28 Jan 2017. Eight of

our deacons , Antony Paulraj, Xavier, Jayaraj, Winston Barboza ( Pune Province), Doss, Benzer ( SE Province), Pandit

and Rajesh ( Nagpur & Vizag Province respec�vely) together with five of the Deacons belonging to Capuchin order

were ordained with the theme “At your Word, Lord I shall cast my net”. The solemn Eucharis�c celebra�on was

officiated by Rt. Rev. Ambrose Rebello, the Bishop of Aurangabad and Rev Fr. Vincent, the Provincial. The whole

event glowed with the presence of Confreres, delegates, priests, religious, parents, rela�ves, benefactors and

friends of Fransalians. The house magazine 'Our Voice' penned by the scholas�cs on the theme 'Mercy equivalent

to Jus�ce for God' was released .

The release of 'Songs of Joy' a hymnal with hymns for liturgy, along with special hymns composed by our brothers on

our patrons and founder was done at the hands of Rev.Fr.Thumma Mariadoss, the Assistan General on his visit in

Nov. 2016. 'Songs of joy' is indeed a handy to have the experience of angelic choir on earth. Congrats to the Rector

The month's mind Mass of Fr. Simon Rodrigees was held on 19th

February 2017 at SFS Church. The Pune Apostolilc Community

confreres concelebrated the Eucharis�c celebra�on. Half an hour

of adora�on was conducted where the confreres shared about Fr.

Simon's memories and his goodness.

On 17th, the family members of Fr. Simon Rodrigues arranged for

the month's mind mass in his hometown Navelim, Goa where many

of our confreres a�ended. The family members thanked all for

being with them in prayers for Fr. Simon. May he rest in etrnal

peace.

The Ballot papers have been sent for the elec�on of the new Provincial of the Province. Kindly follow the direc�ves

of the Superior General reflec�vely and do the needful. As the postal service in our country has become very poor,

kindly get the ballots hand delivered at the Provincialate .

The Province is organizing an update and enriching program on 2 different dates for all the members of the Province.

Keeping in mind the need to enhance the physical and mental health, the programme is organized. Confreres are

requested to a�end this programme. The superiors are requested to see that the members are given opportunity to

a�end either of the programme. The programme will consist of sharings and interac�ons on healthy living, posi�ve

living, liturgical living , and property and educa�on ma�ers. Kindly make it a point to a�end.

19th February was indeed a red le�er day for the parish of Our Lady of Fa�ma, Co�o Fatorpa as founda�on stone for the

new hall was laid. The founda�on stone was blessed and laid by Fr. Thomas Fernandes, in the presence of Provincial

delegate, Fr. Albert Fernandes. Many priests, religious and parishioners graced the occasion with their presence. The

program was well organised by the Catechist and the parishioners. Congrats to Fr. Agnel Lawrence and team, and the

parishioners.
