Oberg Slug Retention

• Special process “guaranteed” to effectively

eliminate or greatly reduce slug pulling

difficulties

• A series of special grooves are produced in die

bushing or die section

• During stamping process, the slugs expand

into these grooves and are trapped

• The grooves apply a precise amount of

interference to the slugs so that vacuum forces

will not pull them back into the work area

Oberg Slug Retention Details

• Requires grinding 2 small grooves 180° apart

or grinding of 4 small groves 90° apart at a

precise angle and depth depending on

application

• Minimum hole diameter is 0.040” (1.016 mm)

• Break clearance cannot exceed 10% per side

• Should not be used in partial cuts such as

trimming of the stock width
