The Puerto Rico Water Resources andEnvironmental Research Institute (PRWRERI) isone of 54 water research centers establishedthroughout the United States and its territoriesby Act of Congress in 1964 and presentlyoperating under Section 104 of the WaterResearch and Development Act of 1984 (P.L.
98-242).
50 years serving the scientific community inPuerto Rico.

Promote development of young researchers andstudents interested in water resources anenvironmental engineering
Serve as consultants to various government
agencies, municipalities, federal agencies, andpublic and private corporations.
Our work is backed with years of research andeducation in addition to a vast bank of resourcesand knowledge.
We prepare future generations in applied researchand management of water resources and theenvironment.

Our Objective
The general objectives of the PRWRERI are:
1. EXPLORING: research aimed at resolving local
and national water resources problems,2. EDUCATING: train scientists and engineers
through hands-on participation in research, and
3. FINDING SOLUTIONS: to facilitate the
incorporation of research results in theknowledge base of water resources professionalsin Puerto Rico, Latin America and the UnitesStates.
