Summary of findings

The diversion to alternative lower-order roads is already takingplace.

- Lane acquisition

- This results in a large unserved demand along JanuaryMasilela Drive and Lynnwood Road that cannot practicallybe accommodated on alternative routes.

- There is gross oversaturation at several key intersectionsalong diversion routes on alternative routes.

- Lane acquisition is not feasible and, therefore, is notrecommended.

- Lane addition is recommended.

- Minor road network upgrades are recommended.

There will be one bus rapid transit lane in each direction.

There is a two-metre sidewalk and a two-metre cycle lane.

• Existing lane configuration

There are two general traffic lanes in each direction.

• Future lane configuration

There will be two general traffic lanes in each direction. The median is wide enough to accommodate the construction of one new bus rapid transit lane in each direction.

• Non-motorised transport

There is a two-metre sidewalk and a two-metre cycle lane.
