State Law (Ch. 2013-160, Laws of Florida)• Violator has 60 days (increased from 30) to:
• Pay penalty • Furnish affidavit naming driver • Request a hearing
• County must reissue a notice of violation (not a traffic citation) to a driver named in an affidavit within 30 days of receipt of affidavit
• If no action in 60 days, Uniform Traffic Citation will issue 6

Sec. 35-73, violations and issuance of notice of violation, is amended to conform with procedural requirements in 2013 state law
Sec. 35-75, owner defenses, updated to:
• Allow owner to submit affidavit in 60 days
• Add an exemption in state law (owner deceased)
• Update terminology (defenses changed to exemptions)

• $50.00 cost to violator when hearing is set and then cancelled
• Hearing officer may assess costs not to exceed $250
• Appeal process is consistent with section 162.11, Florida Statutes
