Highlights As of the time of reporting, among residents of the Public Health Sudbury & Districts service area, there have been: 61 cases of COVID-19 2 deaths from COVID-19 o The case fatality rate is 3.3% Case Fatality Rate is calculated using the following formula: Total Deaths/Total Confirmed Cases 8,424 tests for COVID-19 as of 6:00 PM May 9, 2020 o This represents a testing rate of 4,237 per 100,000 people o This total now includes data from ongoing targeted surveillance initiatives in Long-term-Care Homes and Emergency Child Care Centres. Of the confirmed cases: 35 cases were female 23 cases were between the ages of 40 to 59 35 cases were attributed to either Contact of a case with unknown exposure or No travel and no contact with a known case (unknown exposure) 13 cases were related to outbreaks in 6 Long-term Care Homes o 1 death is related to a Long-term Care Home outbreak

These data are based on information available from Public Health Sudbury & Districts as of 6:00 PM May 10,

2020, unless otherwise specified.

Note: There may be a lag between the date a case is confirmed by the laboratory to Public Health and the date a

case is publicly reported. This is due to the public health follow-up that is required before a case is publicly

reported.

Highlights

As of the time of reporting, among residents of the Public Health Sudbury & Districts service area, there have

been:

• 61 cases of COVID-19

• 2 deaths from COVID-19

o The case fatality rate is 3.3%

in absence of other reliable information, which can account for increased numbers since that time.

Outbreaks in Facilities

Ontario Ministry of Health direction requires a COVID-19 outbreak be declared in a Long-Term Care home with a

single laboratory-confirmed case in a resident or staff member.

• In total there have been 6 COVID-19 outbreaks in area facilities; all outbreaks are in Long-term Care Homes. A total of 13 cases (5 resident cases and 8 staff cases), and 1 death is associated with these outbreaks.

• Of the declared outbreaks in Long-term Care Homes, 5 are active, and 1 is resolved.
