Category VIII: Heritage Zones and Archaeological Parks
NMA in its 130th meeting held on 28th December, 2015 decided to include
the Heritage Zones and Archaeological Parks as a distinct category in areas
where more than one centrally protected monument or one or multiple
archaeological sites are located. The Local Bodies/concerned agencies may
accordingly delineate these Zones and Parks in consultation with Heritage
experts/agencies and/ or Archaeological Survey of India to determine their
boundaries. It is also proposed that these categories may form part of the
Master Plan or Developmental Plan. Further, guidelines and developmental
controls may be separately notified for the Heritage Zones/Archaeological
Parks with a view to protect their historic settings.
The following Heritage Zones and Archaeological Parks have been
identified by NMA;
Heritage Zones: 1. Daman Heritage Zone
2. Diu Heritage zone
3. Ahmedabad Old City Heritage zone
Archaeological Parks 1. Sarkhej Roza Archaeological Park
2. Patan/ Anhilwad Patan Archaeological Park.
