P OSITIVE ATTITUDE

19 April 2014

Thinking positive always helps me to patient myself and overcome

challenges. I remembered when I was 18, I went for this leadership camp that my

high school organized. I was being chosen to be a leader of the team. During that

time, I was not confident and not ready to be a leader. But I was told to be confident

and learn to be a good leader. Therefore I start to think positive every time I lead and

guide them. One of the events given us is to play treasure hunt. Each team has to

follow the instruction given in the paper they gave. At first we were frustrated and

confused, don’t know where to go due to the instruction given in that paper. I was

panic and don’t know what to do. I thought of “If I stay positive and take things one

step at a time, my problems won’t be so hard to overcome”. I start thinking positive

and thought that any challenges I have encountered don’t seem so hard, always

learn thru experience. By thinking positive, sometimes it helps me to come down and

not to be nervous. Besides that, I also remembered every time I’m having difficult

test, thinking positive can help me overcome problems. One of my subjects in

college is psycho, I always afraid of going in to his class because he will always

name me out to give examples for the lecture he gave. I always complain to my

friends that he call me out to give examples every time in his class. But I also

thought of the lecturer is giving me a chance to think and learn. By giving examples

also can help me remember and understand more. Positive thinking helped me to

overcome difficult task and faced so many problems. It also helps to have a right

attitude.

CLASSICAL CONDITIONING

26 May 2014

I remember when I was young I always get sick and got in to hospital.

Whenever I go to hospital I feel really sick by the medicine smell in the hospital. Dad

told me that when I was born the doctor accidentally twisted my head a little. After

few weeks my parents only realized that something isn’t right due to I can’t eat much

and whenever they feed me milk, I spend more than 2 hours to finish it. So then they

bring me to hospital and the doctor said my head were twisted a little and this

affected my neck for swallowing the drinks and food. My parents bring me to hospital

every 2 to 3 weeks to twist my neck to help me get back to normal so that I can

swallow the food. My dad told me that whenever he brings me to hospital I

immediately cried even though I haven’t met the doctor yet. Not only that, I also got

into hospital because I got dengue and lung inflammation. When I grew up I still

scared when I walk into the hospital even though I’m just visiting my grandmother or

relatives. Sometimes I get sick going into hospital because the medicine makes me

feel so.

INTRINSIC MOTIVATION

3 May 2014

I would think that intrinsic motivation is a very enjoyable when you are to do

something. I love being intrinsic motivation because it is enjoyable and I would not

be worried about external reward. I learn piano since I was 9 years old. I didn’t learn

piano to get high grades and I didn’t take any exams for it. My dad send me to learn

piano is to let me relax myself and he always told me to enjoy playing it. I really love

the sound of the piano, so I enjoyed playing it. Besides that, I also enjoyed drawing. I

took extra subject for SPM which is art subject. I took this extra subject because I

love drawing and it is not because of getting an extra A for SPM. I enjoyed having art

class it is because it makes me feel relaxing while drawing. Sometimes I also listen

to music while I’m drawing. People who are intrinsically motivated may enjoy

challenging work, and may think in greater depth about ideas. Not only that, I also

enjoy challenging difficult task. It is important to select a favorite or interesting major

job in college for personal interest. You will enjoy working every time you go for

rather than having a job you dislike but just to get high salary and prestige.

SOCIAL FACILITATION

30 April 2014

Today is my high school sports day. I went to support my sister which is form

5 this year, her last year joining sports day. I also visited my junior friends and

support them. My high schoolmates also came and see the sports day. I used to

participate long jump and run for cross country and 400 meters for my red house

team. While watching my junior running for long run 3600 meters, it reminds me of

my cross country. Everyone in the school are to join cross country but every form will

run different km. Those who got into top 20 will get medals. Every time I run for cross

country I will follow the fastest runner in front to push myself not to give up and follow

their footsteps. I only perform well for my long runs so well because I always tell

myself to keep running and follow the footsteps that are in front of me. I won the 16th

place in form 4 and 11th in form 5.

During my sister’s sports day, my sports teacher suddenly came to us and

asked us to run 400 meters. I remembered 2 years ago when I was still 17, the

sports teacher also asked the ex-students to run for their house. It’s been a long time

since I used to run 400 meters. I and my friends; which there are 6 of them changed

our sports cloths and get ready for our run. As we started running, I’m way behind

from the others, but I heard my red house members cheering for me and shouted my

name to support me. I started follow my friend’s footsteps to push myself to run

faster, as I do so I find myself running faster. After reaching them, I keep pushing

myself to maintain the speed to reach the point. While I was running, I keep telling

myself that “I can do this! I can!” I was so glad and happy because I won the 3th

place. It was my happiest day ever because I didn’t expect that I will win a bronze

medal. I’m so glad that I still can perform well and help to get marks for my red

house members. It may be a last time that I’m joining for sports day because after

this year, all my junior friend are graduating as well as my sister, and new students

are signing up for this school. It will be a lot different faces that I don’t know as well

as my teachers. Teachers are getting old and retired or moving to the other school

for teaching. After my sister’s sports day, I went back home to get ready myself for

my class later in college.

SELF ESTEEM

4 May 2014

My family always treats me so well like a kid even in high school my friends

and teachers also treat me like a kid last time. When I was in high school, I’m a very

innocent girl; I’m also the shortest in the class. All my friend treat me like a kid and

always help me out on difficult task or problems. Whenever we are to buy tickets for

watching movies or play park, my parents will buy me tickets that are under 12 years

old even though I’m already 16. It helps them to save the cost of buying adult’s

tickets. As I grow up, my high still maintain the same when I was 15. My friends gave

a nick name which is Tiny, even my school teachers calls me that. I didn’t get angry

or emotional when they called me Tiny, because I felt that I’m special for them. But

when I was young, I used to hate people calling short and tease me. I will become

very emotional and started crying and look for my parents. As I grew up, I started to

accept it and learn to not be too emotional and sensitive. My friend told me that I

always like playing with my junior in school and help them while they having

problems. That is why they started treating me like a kid because they thought I

always playing with them and it shows my own selves. Besides that, I also like being

friends with my junior kids because they are so cute and they always find me to tell

me stories and their problems. People says, When we were growing up, our

successes, failures, and how we were treated by our family, teachers, coaches,

religious authorities, and peers, all contributed to the creation of our self-esteem. I

started like hanging around with the kids since I was 10 when I first see my cute little

sister born. Having a sister are amazing because they are so cute. They even tell

you secret that their parents don’t know and when that happens I like to be their

Page 7: Psycho essays

listener and help them to solve problems. I also have a nick name for my junior kids

which is Mummy. They always called me that, it makes me feel so special to them

and I’ll give in all my best to help them out. I have this one kid which I always called

him as my son, Evan. he’s just 2 years younger than me. He always asks me for

permission to watch football and when it comes to studies, he will ask me questions.

He really treats me as a mom and I’m so glad that every time I talk to him or chat

with him, make him feel comfortable and happy. I know that his parents always came

back late to home and went oversea every month due to their works. Until know he

still treat me like a mom even though I’m already graduated in that school. I have

learned to be patient, nice and understand myself from all of them. Also my parents

bring me up with patient and love. “Positive self-esteem gives us the strength and

flexibility to take charge of our lives and grow from our mistakes without the fear of

rejection.” We develop an image of ourselves through our experiences with different

people and activities.
