Sustaining Leaders Academy Gallery Crawl
A Gallery Crawl of Great Library Program Ideas to Spark Your Curiosity: Demonstrating the Positive Roles the School Library Plays in Students Developing as Achievers and Human Beings
PSLA Conference April 1, 2017
Background on the Sustaining Leaders Academy
The Sustaining Leaders Academy, a 2016-2017 LSTA-funded collaborative initiative between PSLA and the University of Pittsburgh School Library Certification Program, provided professional development for 23 mid-career PA librarians, allowing them to pursue a Personalized Learning Experience—based on their own curiosity. Each Sustaining Leader was matched with a mentor, participated in a four-day immersive experience during which they developed a personalized learning experience, and over the school year received guidance and affirmation from theirs mentors and peers in f2f and video-conferencing sessions.
The Sustaining Leaders Gallery Crawl of Great Library Programs
• The 23 Sustaining Leaders shared their successes through their posters with conference attendees in a “gallery crawl” on Saturday, April 1, 2017.
• Their posters reflected their Personalized Learning Experiences—a new program idea that creates positive awareness of the value of the school library.
