A MESSAGE FROM LEADERSHIP

A WORLD CLASS EDUCATIONDear Friends,

It is with great pride that we present IPSF’s Annual Report, the results of your investment during the fiscal year ended on June 30, 2013. Since 1996, IPSF has strived to unite the community in support of edu-cational excellence and last year was yet another illustration of the power of collaboration and partner-ship.

• IPSF’s partnership with the Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) ensures that dollars donated to the foundation are used where they are needed the most in our schools. During the 2012-2013 school year, that meant adding more than $1.4 million to Irvine classrooms.• Irvine businesses and corporations joined in support of IPSF’s mission, providing grants, donations, volunteer hours and in-kind gifts.• Parents and community groups collaborated with us to support our Annual Campaign and to provide enrichment programs including Afterschool Classroom Enrichment (ACE).• The City of Irvine continues to be a significant and supportive partner of IPSF’s mission, providing matching funds through a Challenge Grant program.

Whether you’re a Fortune 500 company, a small business owner or a community-minded individual who believes in the power of public education, there is a place for you to make a difference at IPSF. We are grateful for your continued support and together, we can continue to ensure a world class education for each student in every school. Sincerely,

Neda Eaton Sharon Salinger, P.h.D.President & CEO Chair, IPSF Board of Trustees

With a network of individual and corporate donors, the Irvine Public Schools Foundation strongly sup-ports our mission to provide the highest quality educational experience we can envision. Not only does IPSF generate new revenue for our schools, including funds that effectively increase educator-to-student ratios, the foundation also facilitates a number of innovative programs throughout the district. IPSF is the only organization with the reach and resources to impact every child in the Irvine Unified School District. --Terry Walker, Superintendent of Irvine Unified School District

Each summer, IPSF offers summer enrichment classes for students from incoming kindergarteners to high school seniors. IPSF summer programs offer an opportunity to explore new ideas, get a jump start on the next school year, or hone their skills.

We are so fortunate to have IPSF! The summer music session

was incredible . What a great way for kids to spend time in the

summer - making new friends and creating music. It’s the best!

LEGACY PARTNERSIPSF’s Legacy Partner program was founded in 2004 to recognize the dedication and commitment of major individual donors who wanted to support Irvine schools at a signifi-cant level. In 2013, less than 10 years later, IPSF achieved our ambitious goal to reach 100 Legacy Partners. Collectively, these gen-erous individuals have donated more than $2 million to our schools over the life of the Legacy Partner program and have created a lasting legacy of educational excellence in our community. into $6,000 for all the children attending IUSD schools.”

District and Orange County Science & Engineering Fairs.

-- Paula Golden, Executive Director, Broadcom Foundation

In 2010, state budget cuts threatened IUSD’s Annual Science Fair but Broadcom Foundation stepped in to save the day. They have continued to support IPSF and the Science Fair each year, preserving a signature event in the IUSD community.

A WORLD CLASS EDUCATION

PARTNER PROFILE

In 2012, IPSF and the Ocean Institute began a new partnership, collaborating on enrichment programs and join-ing forces on the Million Dollar Home Raffle to benefit both organizations.

The Ocean Institute is nationally known for its hands-on marine science, environmental education and maritime history programs. This relationship brought Ocean Institute curriculum to Irvine students through enrichment classes as well as visits from the Wyland Clean Water Mobile Learning Center. Renowned artist Wyland hosted a special event for students who competed in IPSF’s art contest and provided the students with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to paint alongside the artist himself.

Additionally, the inaugural year of the Million Dollar Home Raffle partnership resulted in a contribution of nearly $100,000 to IPSF, with the Ocean Institute donating $50 per ticket purchased by IPSF supporters. IPSF and the Ocean Institute have continued our collaboration and will partner on the 2014 Million Dollar Home Raffle launching in July 2014. For more information about the Million Dollar Home Raffle, please visit the IPSF website or call the raffle hotline at (949) 542-3600. Don’t forget to mention IPSF!

A WORLD CLASS EDUCATIONBOARD OF TRUSTEES

Mayor Steven Choi, PhDThe Irvine City Council has made

it a priority to provide an unprecedent-ed amount of support to Irvine’s public schools. More than anything else, the cooperative spirit between the City

and the District lays the foundation for the superior school system and for the

excellence in the quality of education in Irvine. That is the cornerstone of Irvine as an education town. The District is

fortunate to have another partner, IPSF, whose mission is the same as the City of Irvine’s – enhance the classroom

experience so that each child’s education and future opportunity is

second to none.

Why IPSF is NeededIUSD’s 2011-2012 per pupil funding

was 16% below state average and 31% below the national average. And yet

IUSD schools continue to receive state and national

recognition.
