Pile Foundation is common foundation system to support high rise buildings to be constructed on soft clay or soil of low bearing capacity. Structural and Geotechnical Engineer is supposed to know the behaviour of pile under static and dynamic load for the effective and economical design of foundation system. The behaviour of pile changes with soil types. In the present paper, a parametric study was carried out taking the diameter and length of pile as variable parameters. The behaviour of pile is observed in three types of soil i.e. C-Ø soil, C soil and Ø soil. Under dynamic loading. A numerical model is developed by using a Finite Element Programme OpenSeesPL, a freeware specially programmed for dynamic analysis of pile and pile group under seismic loading. The result are obtained in terms of lateral deflection of pile at top, Bending moment generated in pile , profile of pile and shear force developed in the pile. It is observed from the study that piles are worst effected in C soil and least effected in C-Ø soil if maximum displacement is considered as a criteria to compare the suitability of pile.

ABSTRACT. C- soil, C soil and soil. It is observed from the study that piles are worst effected in C soil and least effected in C- soil if maximum displacement is considered as a criteria to compare the suitability of pile. It is also observe that long piles are more suitable than short pile for dynamic loading. Keywords: Pile, Seismic load, C- soil, Lateral deflection in pile, Finite Element Method.
