Getting started with Photoshop CS6 and CC
An easy to understand Introduction to digital images.
Like painting or drawing, images have building blocks,
and for Photoshop it’s the pixel. Understanding what you
can and can’t do with them will gives you a rock solid
base to explore Photoshop’s wide range of features.
Image size and format
The end use will often dictate the finished image. You will
be given a real world best practice approach to file
formats, size and resolution. JPG, PNG, PSD and other file
formats are explained, together with how to save files
specifically for print, web and screen.
Editing images
Image editing is mostly overall colour adjustment,
lightening or darkening images, and resizing. You will gain
the skills to not only correct your images, but gain a
better understanding of how to spot problems, and the
best practice of how to fix them.
Non destructive editing
One of the most important skills in Photoshop is speed.
You will gain a good understanding of the quickest way
to achieve your goal. It’s easy to change an image, but
what if you need to change it back to some degree?
Rather than starting from scratch, we will show you how
to use a technique called non destructive editing.
Working with lots of images
Often the same thing needs to be done to a number of
images. Re size, re colour, and lighten/darken to name a
few. You will learn how to use the automation and action
recording features of Photoshop.
Image illustration
Clear cutting and masking used to be an area for
professional photo retoucher. Thanks to Photoshop’s easy
to use range of editing tools, you will be masking, clear
cutting and merging images like a pro.
Cropping images
The cropping tool is only part of the story. Knowing where
and why to crop is just as important. A look at simple
cropping rules should equip you with the knowledge
needed to re crop images to make content meant to be
seen, stand out.
