Psalm 103:1-22

1 Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

6 The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.

7 He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.

8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.

10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.

14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.

16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.

17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;

18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.

19 The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.

20 Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.

21 Bless ye the Lord, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.

22 Bless the Lord, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the Lord, O my soul.

The Psalmist fills his lips with these words: ''Bless the Lord, o my soul...'' Two times in the first two verses he does this. Four times in the last four verses he says, ''Bless the Lord, o my soul.'' It begins by expressing thanksgiving to God. It also closes by expressing thanksgiving to God

Be YOU Thankful

In a few days, from now we are going to have Thanksgiving Day.

The first Thanksgiving in America was celebrated by the Pilgrims in 1621.

President Lincoln declared a national day of Thanksgiving in 1863.

Long before Thanksgiving was a 'day,‘ God's Word says, ‘ 'be ye thankful.''

Be Ye Thankful

Col. 3:15 5 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

Thanksgiving is a characteristic of the way Christians live.

Eph.5 20Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Col.2:6,7 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

Have you considered this fact:

Ingratitude - lack of thankfulness - is condemned by God

(Romans 1:21, 21 Because that, when they knew God, they

glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

2 Timothy 3:2). 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves,

covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

If you love God, and want to worship Him…God wants YOU! John 4:23,24

… God is not seeking worshippers because He needs our worship.

… God is seeking worshippers because we need to worship

Someone has said:

God seeks worshippers so we can be what we were created to be.

Have you ever thought about this?

I guess of all of the times an Atheist must feel very uncomfortable are those occasions when he feels thankful and he doesn't have anybody to express his gratitude to.

God clearly states:

In I Thessalonians 5:18 the Bible says, ''In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

What being thankful means….

Thanksgiving is an amazing medicine. When we are thankful, worries cease

Complaining disappears

Peace comes into our hearts.

God tells us what makes us happy..

When we learn to be thankful, when we develop the attitude of gratitude, we're on the way to being happy, contented people.

It spares us from being complaining, critical, angry, depressed people.

Thanksgiving has a marvelous healing, soothing quality to the people who learn to display it.

The Book of Psalms

Many of those psalms that are dedicated to the theme of thanksgiving.

We are to enter into his courts with praise and with thanksgiving.

Many times, in the book of Psalms, it says, ''Oh, give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good.''

In the Old Testament

We find the subject of giving thanks, Being thankful scattered all over the

Old Testament.

Psalm 7:17 I will give thanks to the LORD because of his

righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.

Psalm 28:7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart

trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.

Psalm 100:4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts

with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.

Psalm 106:1 Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for he

is good; his love endures forever.

Scriptures in the New Testament

Jesus gave thanks beforeinstituting the Lord’s Supper

Matt. 26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

Paul gave thanks: Phil. 1:3

''I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every request of mine with thanksgiving.''

Hebrews 13:15 says, ''Let us therefore offer unto him our sacrifice to God continually. That is the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to his name.''

Things which should demand ourthanksgiving…

Important Things: life, Jas. 4:13-14 Health..1 The elder unto the well beloved Gaius,

whom I love in the truth. 2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou

mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

family, friends the nation we live in, despite all its flaws. In addition to all those things: my church family, Philippi 1:7 the mercy God showers on us each day.

Think of the Blessings of being a Christian…

We have His presence, Matt.11:28-30 His promises and 2 Pet. 1:3-4 His power available every single day

that we live. Phil. 4:13 He is faithful and He is true. Heb. 13:5-

6 We can count on Him. Mtt.28:18-20 He is our refuge and our strength, a

very present help in time of trouble. Psalm 46:1

With Jesus, we have so muchto be thankful for every day..

Jesus is: alpha and omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last, the one who was and is and evermore shall be . He had no beginning and He has no end. He is the master of the mighty, He is the hero of the heroes, He is the rose of Sharon and the Lily of the Valley, He is the bright and the morning star. Some day he will descend from heaven with a shout and with the

voice of the arch angel.. ... Acts 1:9-11

Some day he will descend from heaven with a shout and with the voice of the arch angel.. ..

. I Thess.4:16

Psalm 18:2-3

The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

3 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

Someone has said that an ungrateful man is like a hog under a tree eating acorns, but never looking up to see where they came from.

Each day of our life we are recipients of God's blessings.

The Bible says in Psalm 68:19, ''Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits.

He daily loads our wagon with so many blessings the wheels wobble.

However, we receive and receive, take and take, and offer nothing in thanks in

return. How can be so ungrateful when

God has done so much for us and Continues to bless us each day!

2 Cor. 4:15

Paul said : ''that the abundant grace of God might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.''

10 Cleansed…ONLY 1returned to give Him thanks!

Luke 17:11-12, ''And it came to pass, as He went to Jerusalem, that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. And as He entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off.''

This would be a glorious day for these ten lepers. Jesus was passing by, and whenever Jesus passes by great and glorious things always happen

10 Lepers are healed: Only 1Returns to give Him thanks!!

Luke 17:11-12

How many at O’Neal…have returned to the Lord and said “Thank you!”
