Hacking Methods

• Jailbreak <= 3.55 ONLY ! – CFW – Dongle – Drive emulator

• Downgrade 4.4X -> 3.55 – E3 Flasher – Progskeet , Infectus

• ODE – Optical Drive Emulators (Cobra , 3k3y)

• Dual Nand/Nor with Nand/Nor Flasher

The Jailbreak

• Allows you to run unsigned code • Host modded lobbies • can run backups while on a CFW. (CFW stands for Custom Firmware) • Run homebrews • Run Linux (other OS) • Mod Games

• You can jailbreak 3.55 and below • If you are not on 3.55 you have to downgrade.

• Little Risk of bricking your PS3

- Bricking your PS3 is equivalent to throwing it in the trash. – Unbricking needs a hardware flasher

Can i Jailbreak my PS3 ?

• Basically, YES

– If it´s running on Firmware 3.55 or below.

• How do i know that it is running on 3.55 ?

– Go to System settings and then to System information

What do i need for a jailbreak ?

• Just a USB drive and your PS3 on 3.55 – If you are below 3.55

update to 3.55

– Follow any jailbreak tutorial to install it

I´m not on 3.55 – can i jailbreak ?

• If you are below 3.55 -> Yes – Then you are lucky

• Update to 3.55

• Go and follow some tutorial to jailbreak your PS3

• If you are higher then 3.55 -> No – Then you have to downgrade.

– There is no way now to jailbreak on > 3.55 without downgrade

• They are all scams !

What CFW should i take ?

• Rogero

• kmeaw

• Rebug

• Dongle specific firmware

– Cobra,True blue ……

• Stay away from fresh and unknown releases

PSN Acces

• Spoofing – Makes PS3 think that you are on latest OFW

– and allows you to data transfer to your retail

– PSN /SEN access with bypass

• Getting Banned – Always a risk of getting a ban.

– Currently there is no unban tool for 4.46

– If unban gets possible i´ll update it in the description.

How to „prevent“ a ban

• Never Mod new Games unless you are offline • Never use mods online • Only use mod for your own fun not to use it against

people • Never use Homebrew for long periods or whilst

connected to SEN • Never use your main SEN Account • Do NOT use pre-releases with your CFW and avoid

playing online with them. • Try and avoid staying online • Dont Use the Sign in Automatically Option.

Downgrade

• Means getting your Firmware down to 3.55 to be jailbreakable.

• You need to determine if it´s possible

What is a dongle and why do i need it ?

• Selfmade dongles – OpenKubus (requires HEX flashing) – Android phone (Requires flashing Recovery)

• Not all phones supported

– Jailbroken iphone /IPOD – Check compatibility (Psgroove , PS freedom)

– True blue DOES NOT HAVE downgrade function!

– Allows you to play games without Disk

– Works for almost every ps3

– PS2/PS1 backups

– Sony did patch many stuff with firmware updates

– Then you need to downgrade again to 3.55 for CFW

– ODE would be useless until it may gets updated.

PS3 Brick

• How to prevent bricking your PS3 – Only change files that you know

– Do what the tutorial says and try to understand it (use your brain ;)

– Never Turn you're PS3 off if you think you done something wrong (just find the original files)

– Always back up the files you are modding

– Never delete files from the system that you dont know what they are doing.

Signs of a brick: -Black screen -RSOD -Freezes in XMB -Auto turn on and off

So what is the best method to hack my ps3 ?

• For now only JAILBREAK

– 3.55 ONLY

• Downgrade if possible

• ODE

– Need to jailbreak for Drive key

– Wait until ODE may works with OFW
