Question and Answer Session 1• Questions on Zoom or PollEverywhere?

18

Why are we here?

1. The City has received grant funding from Caltrans to conduct atransportation study focused on ways to improve bicycle andpedestrian connections on Pruneridge Avenue.

2. The Plan will also look at ways to improve the comfort and safetyof drivers and local residents.

3. The Plan will collect data and conduct traffic, parking, andcollision analysis on the corridor.

4. The Plan will seek and record community input at multiple pointsin the process and share that feedback with City Council.

19

Why are we here?

5. Community input and data will inform conceptual roadway designs.6. City Council will consider options and choose to move forward or not.7. No funding has been identified for any future phases

beyond this plan.

20

How do we get there?• Consider a Complete Streets approach.• Complete Streets aim to promote:

– Safety

– Multiple modes of transportation

– Physical activity (more options to walk or bike)

– Cleaner air

– A more comfortable, inviting corridor21

Pruneridge Ave

How do we get there?

22

• Complete Streets are streets for everyone, no matter whothey are or how they choose to travel.

• Complete Streets provide convenient, comfortable, andconnected transportation choices.

• Understanding context and community character areessential.

How do we get there?

23

• Recommendations will be based on public input andtraffic analyses

• If bicycle lanes are recommended, we will evaluate

– Removing one (1) travel lane in each direction and install

center turn lane; or

– Removing on-street parking

How will decisions be made?• The Plan will present to Council:

– Community input

– Technical analysis (traffic, parking, simulation modeling, etc.)

– Corridor improvements that meet the goals of the plan

• City Council will decide if and how the plan moves forward.• There is no funding dedicated to design or build any options right

now.
