1 Greetings! Our winter wonderland has begun up here on Prune Hill! As we contin- ue with our blustery weather be sure to tune into media and web alerts for updates on school closures. Please be assured that in severe weather we close the playground completely, especially the early morning recess. However, remember to send your child with a coat, gloves and hat to ward off the wind in the event they go outside for a short break. A flurry of activities is happening here at Prune Hill: Your contribu- tions to CAROL food drive have been greatly appreciated! Our donations will help the CHS ‘Stuff the Bus’ fill a school bus full of food with Washougal High School on Friday, December 6. Food will continue to be the requested donation as we se- gue into Read to Feed, our own pro- gram to help those in need locally through Treasure House. The spirit of giving is wonderful to see here at Prune Hill! Teachers work diligently to meet the needs of all students and provide a rich learning environment for them to grow and thrive. Now that we have completed our first trimester, report cards will be sent home Thursday, December 19 th with your child. Poor marks on a report card are opportunities for students to grow and improve through this next trimester, whether the mark is due to academic challenges or organiza- tion/missing assignments and study habits. These years in elementary school are important to set high, yet realistic expectations for students to be successful, and also to experience setbacks now while the stakes are lower. We are the foundational years to provide the academic and coping skills needed for a successful second- ary education. Our goal is to foster confident, independent learners who are proud of their accomplishments in all areas of their elementary school experience. Should you have any questions regarding this first report card, please feel free to con- tact your child’s teacher for clarify cation. Our partnership fosters strong relationships in this 6 year journey together. You are invited to join us for a holi- day sing-along on December 18 at 9:15 in the gym as we break for the winter holidays. All of us at Prune Hill wish you and your families a very joyous, restful, and safe winter vacation. We look forward to seeing all of our penguins back in 2014! School resumes Mon- day, January 6. Greetings!

Our winter wonderland has begun up here on Prune Hill! As we contin-ue with our blustery weather be sure to tune into media and web alerts for updates on school closures. Please be assured that in severe weather we close the playground completely, especially the early morning recess. However, remember to send your child with a coat, gloves and hat to ward off the wind in the event they go outside for a short break.

A flurry of activities is happening here at Prune Hill: Your contribu-tions to CAROL food drive have been greatly appreciated! Food will continue to be the requested donation as we se-gue into Read to Feed, our own pro-gram to help those in need locally through Treasure House. The spirit of giving is wonderful to see here at Prune Hill!

Teachers work diligently to meet the needs of all students and provide a rich learning environment for them to grow and thrive. Now that we have completed our first trimester, report cards will be sent home Thursday, December 19th with your child. Poor marks on a report card are opportunities for students to grow and improve through this next trimester, whether the mark is due to academic challenges or organiza-tion/missing assignments and study habits. cation. Our partnership fosters strong relationships in this 6 year journey together.

You are invited to join us for a holi-day sing-along on December 18 at 9:15 in the gym as we break for the winter holidays.

All of us at Prune Hill wish you and your families a very joyous, restful, and safe winter vacation. We look forward to seeing all of our penguins back in 2014! School resumes Mon-day, January 6.

Emergency and school closure information is posted to the local media. In the event that school is closed or de-layed, the district’s emergency notification system will call parents at their home number around 6:00 am to an-nounce late start or closure information. If snow routes are in effect, the message will indicate so. If no an-nouncement is made, bus routes and pick----up times will run as usual. Parents are asked to refrain from calling the district office or schools as high call volumes can shut down the phone system. In the event of a two----hour delay, students should arrive at bus stops two hours later than normal, but please allow for delays.
