This month marks the end of summer. You can tell because the kids are back in school, the school buses are running and the BYU stu-dents are back
in town. This also means that fall is just around the corner and the leaves will start turning and it should start to cool off. I want to take a minute and thank Tammy Beck and her committee for the wonderful job they did with the Annual Golf Tournament and Camping Weekend. It was also the visitation for our State President, Hortt Carter, and his adorable wife, Suzanne. They certainly had a wonderful time and I think that everyone that attended also en-joyed themselves. So-once again, thanks to Tammy and her crew for the hard work and time invested in this event.
I will be attending the Utah Elks Association Fall Meeting in Cedar City the September 6th and 7th. Everyone is invited to attend state meetings and they are a lot of fun and there is a lot of information about what other Lodges are doing so if you can make it, come attend the meetings in Cedar City. There will be a District Deputy Clinic on Sunday Morning and although some of our officers are required to attend, any member can also attend and learn more about how Elkdom works and support our new District Deputy GER Utah South, Mary Alice Johnson. Our Annual Purple Days event is coming up on September 21st and I hope each of you will put it on your calendar. This is when the Lodge has the opportunity to thank all of its members for their support during the year. You will be feed and games will be available and I hope to see you there. If you don’t come down any other time during the year—try to make it to this
event. After all, it is to celebrate you as a member. There are some things coming up this fall that will need volunteers. Although I don’t have dates and times yet, the Local Hoop Shoot will be happening, Christmas Charity and the Community Din-ner will happen and the Lodge will be judging scholarships between now and Christmas. So if you are interested in helping with either of those committees, let me know and I will get you more information. Remember that Wednesday Night dinner is a great night out and maybe I will see more of you there now that summer is over. Fraternally, Clark Rowberry Exalted Ruler 2019-2020

Dear Ladies and Elk Member's Hope everyone is staying cool this hot summer. We are getting ready to start having our meetings again and gear up for a successful year. I'm look-ing forward to a great year. If you have any ideas for a project, please let me know all ideas are wel-
come. Danielle is chairman of the Harvest Ball and I'm sure she could use some help. Our first board meeting is Sept 4th @ 6pm. This is just before Fall Meeting in Cedar City. I hope some of you ladies can go to this meeting. It's a lot of fun and informative to go to state meeting's. The Wednesday after that, September 11
th, is our first meeting. Plan to eat at the Lodge
at 6pm and meeting at 7pm. We are trying this to help the Wednesday night dinner up-stairs so the price will be a little bit more, so plan on that. Your feedback on the sub-ject will be appreciated. Bring a friend to our meetings. We need to get our members to tell people what a great organization we have and the good we do for the community to help us get are member-ship up. Thanks for your support Nora Carter LOE President

Hello all, we hope you have enjoyed a nice summer (safely). The Veterans Auxiliary is now a fully functioning 501(3) (c) non-profit. We’re excited to welcome our new Secretary, Shawnee Davis, to the Auxiliary. And as always looking for more Veterans to join us. We have some great things in the works, working hand in hand with the Veterans Com-mittee. Matt Graham has proposed an idea to do a “Casino night” so watch for more details. The Utah Elks is sponsoring a Veterans & Little Warriors Golf Tournament on September 14th at Sleepy Ridge in Vineyard. Flyers are posted at the Lodge for info to sign up and/or do-nate. Raffle Tickets are behind the Bar. A Rifle is is being raffled $10 per ticket. The gen-eral raffle has lots of great prizes and they are $2 ea or 3 for $5. Come join the fun & support the Utah Veterans. We also have identified an 88 year old Korea Veteran that needs a Flagpole, flag, and solar light. Amos Ar-chuleta, (he recently lost his wife Stella of 65 years) and this is a great way to show our appreciation. We will soon have our Website up & running for public input. We are continually searching for Veterans that can use our help. If you know any Veterans in need, please contact us. God Bless you all & God Bless America! Roger Kaufman , Pres. Provo Elks Lodge #849 Veterans Auxiliary ([email protected]) (801)472-7303
Roger (Utah State ELKS - Veterans), Frank Robinette (Lodge 849 - Veterans Committee) and myself was able to participate in the Missing In America Project - Utah. Thirteen soldiers and one spouse was given full military rights at the Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park. Five of the soldiers had families in attendance. The rest were un-claimed. They ranged from WWI to Vietnam Veterans plus four that served during peace time. It was a huge honor and it was so humbling and beautiful. The procession started at the Harley-Davidson in South Salt Lake and ended at Camp Williams. Patti Kaufmann
