Your PCP will: • Give you all the basic health services you

need • Send you to other doctors or hospitals when

you need special health care

How to get OB/GYN services You can see a plan OB/GYN without a referral from your PCP for services like: • Well-woman visits • Pregnancy care • Care for any female medical condition • Family planning

You may also be able to choose an OB/GYN as your PCP. Call Member Services at 1-800-600-4441 (TTY 711) and tell us the name of the OB/GYN you want as your PCP.

How to help your children stay healthy Babies and children need more care to get a good start in life. That’s why it’s important for children to get well-child checkups on time. Your member guide tells you how often children should see their PCP for wellness visits. These visits also help doctors find health problems early when it’s easiest to take care of them. During a wellness visit, your child will get things like: • Height/weight checks • Immunizations (shots) • Tests for TB, lead and other health problems • Eye and ear tests • Physical exams • Nutrition reviews • Tips about safety and health

You can get wellness visits for children under age 21 from any Amerigroup doctor. You don’t need a referral. If you need help finding a PCP for your child, either: • Call Member Services at 1-800-600-4441

How to get specialist care Your PCP will send you to other doctors (called specialists) or hospitals if you need special care. This is called a referral.

That means your PCP: • Agrees you need special care for a problem • Will send you to a doctor that specializes in your

problem, like a/an: - Allergist (for allergy problems) - Cardiologist (for heart problems) - Dermatologist (for skin problems)

Make sure your specialist is in our plan so your care will be paid for.

Federally Qualified Health Centers and Rural Health Clinics You can get services (like health screenings and shots for kids) from Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) if they’re: • In our health plan • In your service area and you ask for these

services

You can get services from non-plan FQHCs or RHCs if a plan provider isn’t in your service area. We also pay for behavioral health services given at an FQHC or RHC.

If you don’t see an FQHC or RHC provider’s name listed in our directory, you can visit directory.amerigroup.com or call Member Services toll free at 1-800-600-4441 (TTY 711).

How to get pharmacy services You may go to any pharmacy in our health plan to get your prescriptions. Be sure to show your Amerigroup member ID card to the pharmacy. If you’re not sure if a drugstore is in our plan, ask the pharmacist.

How to get urgent and emergency care If you’re sick or hurt and your doctor’s office is closed, you can call an urgent care clinic for help. Our after-hours and urgent care providers and their hours are listed in this directory. In an emergency, always go to the nearest

emergency room or call 911.

Cómo ayudar a sus niños a mantenerse sanos Los bebés y niños necesitan más cuidados para comenzar la vida de manera saludable. Por este motivo es importante que los niños se hagan chequeos de niño sano a tiempo. La guía de miembro le indica con qué frecuencia los niños deberían realizar visitas de bienestar con su PCP.
