Whether you rely upon commercial landscape, golf maintenance, or commercial worksite equipment, there is
something all mowers require to maximize efficiency: a good preventative maintenance program.
As we move rapidly through 2017, spring is already heading into summer. You may be preparing for the heat, but did you remember to prepare your fleet? As we enter summer, the grass is growing, crews are in full production, and everyone gets immersed in making sure that the best possible product is being provided to the customer right on time. You depend on your equipment and, believe it or not, it depends on you. This is the time when service shops see increased activity, especially with equipment overheating and experiencing reduced power.
More often than you might think, these are easily fixed and the trip to the shop could have been completely avoided. A simple clogged component, such as an air filter, fuel filter, radiator, hydraulic cooler, or DPF filter, is often to blame, and a good preventative maintenance program (or PM, as we call it around here) may have helped prevent a mower being down when uptime is most important.
No matter what color equipment you run, check your owner’s manual for your recommended service intervals. Keeping up with your service and implementing a good “PM” program will pay off by helping to extend the life of your investment and keeping your machine in the field when you need it most.
