Market

The blurring of Sports Nutrition and Weight
Management markets has created a continuum of
consumers
As global obesity rates continue to rise, consumers are realizing
that it’s not just an exercise routine or a diet that will help them
achieve their goals … it takes a lifestyle change.
“Across the world, lifestyle and demographic changes are
sparking increased consumer interest in products that can support
healthier lifestyles and aspirational athletic endeavours.” Source: www.nutraceuticalbusinessreview.com, Getting in shape for the sports nutrition flavour revolution., Oct 2014

Muscle growth – Simple truth
Source: www.precisionnutrition.com/leucine-vs-whey
• Muscle mass is maintained through the
regulated balance between muscle protein
synthesis (MPS) and muscle protein breakdown
(MPB).
• Muscle hypertrophy is only possible if MPS
exceeds MPB.
• After resistance exercise (fasting state), there
is a rise in MPS; however, the rate of MPB also
increases. Biolo G, et al. Am J Physiol Endocrinol Metab 268: E514–
E520, 1995.
• When amino acids or protein are ingested
after exercise, the net muscle protein balance
becomes positive as the rate of MPS surpasses
the rate of MPB, which itself may be
suppressed. Tipton KD et al. J Physiol Endocrinol Metab 284: E76–E89,
2003.

Building a Muscle Research Program
Blending the unique
benefits of soy and dairy
has been proposed to be
better than a single
source of protein.
Animal study identifies a
25/25/50
soy/whey/casein blend
for high FSR.
Clinical study
confirms 25/25/50
soy/whey/casein
blend can extend
FSR.
Recently Completed
Chronic Clinical study to
investigate 25/25/50
soy/whey/casein blend on
muscle growth and
strength.
Ongoing Acute Clinical
study in older people to
investigate 25/25/50
soy/whey/casein blend
on muscle synthesis.
