Academic  Qualification  

 i) Passed   10+2   with   Physics,   Chemistry,  

Mathematics   or   equivalent   vocational  education   course   and   English   as   a  separate   subject,   with   minimum   50%  marks   in   English   language   at   10th   or  12th  or  Diploma  or  Degree  level.  

ii) Passed   three   years  Diploma  with   60%  marks   or   four   years   Degree   including  lateral   entry   with   50   %   marks   in  Electrical   Engineering,   Electronics  Engineering,   Electrical   &   Electronics  Engineering,   Electronics   &  Telecommunication/   Communication  Engineering   or   Electronics   and  Instrumentation  or  equivalent.  

iii) The   diploma/degree   courses   must  have  been   recognized  by  any  State  or  Central  Government  or  the  AICTE  

iv) The   Directorate   has   been   receiving  many   representation   from   the  Diploma/Degree   holders   who   have  completed   their   Diploma/Degree  successfully,   however,   not   obtained  50%  marks   in   English   language   either  in   10th   or   12th   standard   but   have  scored   60%   in   Diploma   and   50%   in  Degree   courses.   Directorate   has  examined   such   cases   and   permitted  admission   of   such   candidates   for   ETO

course  who  could  not  score  50%  marks  in   English   at   10th   or   12th   standard  but  have  scored  60%  in  Diploma  and  50  %  in  Degree  courses,  will  be  eligible  if  the  medium   of   learning   in  Diploma/Degree   courses   is   in   English  language   subject   to   fulfilling   all   other  eligibility  norms  and  medical  fitness.

Medical  Standard:  

 

Physical  Standards:    

1.   Candidates  should  be  healthy  and  physically  fit  for  sea  service  as  per  STCW  2010/MS  Medical  rules  2000  and  all  its  amendment  as  applicable  to  seafarers.  2.   Candidates  will   have   to  undergo  a   full  medical   check-­‐up   through  our  Panel  Doctor   approved  by  D.G.S   hipping.     (To   know   more   about   STCW   2010/MS   Medical   Rules   2000,   kindly   visit   D.   G.   Shipping  website  “www.dgshipping.com".)    Eyesight:    

1.   Distance  vision  (unaided):  6/12  in  each  eye;  or  6/9  in  better  eye  and  6/18  in  other  eye.    2.   Normal  colour  vision.    3.   Candidates  will  have  to  undergo  a  full  eyesight  test  by  a  Company  Medical  Officer.    

     Minimum  Height:    157  cms.        Minimum  Weight:    48  Kg.

How  to  apply

Applicant  must  write  his  name  in  CAPITALS  &  (ETO  course)  on  the  reverse  of  the  Demand  Draft.

Career prospects on successful completion of ETO course:

17  weeks  training  at  the  Institute  -­‐>  8    months  training  on  ship  as  Trainee  Electro  Technical  Officer  >  Around  6  months  sailing  as  Asst.  Electro  Technical  Officer  >  Post  successful  clearance  eligible  for  employment  as  Electro  Technical  Officer  globally.  

 - Stipend  for  Onboard  Training  as  Trainee  Electro  Technical                  Officer:  Rs.30,000/-­‐  pm.    - Stipend  for  Onboard  Training  as  Asst.  Electro  Technical                  Officer:  Rs.50,000/-­‐  pm.  

   On   successful   clearance   of   Examination   &   Ship’s   Evaluation,   Elevation   as   Electro  Technical   Officer,   the   salary   will   be   that   of   MUI   1st   Year   Scale   (approximately   Rs.1,  25,000/-­‐  p.m.,  subject  to  applicable  TDS,  if  any)

General  Instructions.  

1. The   Applicants   are   responsible   to   ensure   that   they   fulfil   the   eligibility   criteria,   regarding  educational  qualifications,  MMPE  test,  age  and  eyesight.    

 2. Eligibility  criteria   for  admission   to   the  course  are  as  per   the  guidelines   issued  of   the  Directorate  

General  of  Shipping  and  hence  are  not  changeable.    3. If   any   false   /   incorrect   information   furnished   by   the   Applicant   is   detected   at   any   stage,   his/her  

candidature  will  not  be  considered  and   if   selected,  he  will  be   removed   from  the   training  course  and  course  fees  will  be  forfeited  

 4. Course   fees,   advance   fees,   Examination   fees   once   paid,   will   not   be   refunded,   partly   or  

otherwise,  under  any  circumstances.    5. As  the  applications  are  processed  by  a  computerised  system,  it  is  essential  that  the  application  be  

forwarded  strictly  in  accordance  with  the  prescribed  format.    

6. Duly  filled   in  Application  Form  should  have  one  photograph  pasted  and  Demand  Draft  attached.  Originals/photocopies  of  certificates  etc.  should  not  be  sent  with  the  application  form.

7. All  fields  in  the  Online  Application  Form  should  be  filled  with  correct  details  and  Application  number  should  be  noted  by  the  candidate  for  all  future  reference.  

 8. Candidates  should  possess  at  least  Twelve  (12)  recent  passport  size  photographs  (front  view)  and  

these   photographs   only   must   be   used   on   Application   Form,   Interview,   Medical   Examination,  training  etc.  Any  change  of  photograph  will  disqualify  the  Candidate.  

 9. Candidates,  at  the  time  of   interview,  will  be  required  to  produce  original  copies  of  proof  of  age,  

Degree  Certificate,  HSC  Certificate  or  equivalent,   SSC  Certificate  or  equivalent,  where  applicable  from  Govt.  recognized  board/universities.

                 Note:    

The  Offer  of  admission  for  Pre-­‐Sea  Training  and  Shipboard  Training  by  GES  shall  not  be  considered  as  guarantee   of   employment   on   completion   of   such   training.   However,   in   the   event   of   GES   offering  employment   after   passing   the   Examination,   the   candidate   shall   agree   to   be   bound   to   accept   our  employment   and   serve  on  our   vessels   for   a   period  of   three   years.   This   is   a   requirement   as   per   the  Gazette  Notification  S.O.2132  (E)  issued  on  December  12,  2007  by  Govt.  of  India.
