IV. Eligibility

a) CandidateswhohavepassedMBBSexaminationfromMedicalCollegesrecognizedbyMCIandcompletedInternshipatthetimeof

theirapplyingareeligible.Candidateswhowillbecompleting

Internshiponorbefore31/03/2012arealsoeligibletoapply,

providedtheysubmitacertificatetotheeffectthatissignedbythe

Principal/Dean.

b) RequirementofcompulsoryrotatinginternshipshallnotbecondonedunlessapprovedbytheMedicalCouncilofIndia(MCI). Thecondonationofcompulsoryrotatinginternshipshallberestrictedto

theperiodupto31/03/2012andnotbeyondthatdate. The

condonationcertificatefromMCImustbesubmittedalongwiththe

applicationform.

c) ThecandidateswhohavealreadyregisteredforanyregularorparttimecourseatNIMSandwouldliketoapply foradmissiontoanother

courseatNIMS,shallresignfromsuchTraining/courseintheInstitute

dulyfulfillingtheconditionsofthebondandfailuretodosowill

rendertheirapplicationsforadmissionliabletoberejected.

V. StatutoryReservations

A. RuleofReservationforScheduledTribes,ScheduledCastesandBackward

Classes(A,

B,

C,

and

E)

shall

be

applied

as

per

100

points

roster

(Rule

22

ofA.P.StateandSubordinateServiceRules,1996). Consequentto

allotmentoftheseatsfromrosterpoint1to24duringtheyear2011,the

rosterwillberesumedfrompoint25thisyear(2012).

B. i) Thereshallbe3%reservationonhorizontalbasisfordifferentlyabled

(PH)withlocomotordisabilityoflowerlimbsbetween50%to70%.

ii) Providedthatincaseanyseatinthis3%quotaremainsunfilledon

accountofunavailabilityofcandidateswithlocomotorydisabilityoflower

limbsbetween50%to70%thenanysuchunfilledseatshallbefilledup

bypersons

with

locomotory

disability

of

lower

limbs

between

40%

to

50%.

iii)Candidateswithlessthan40%disabilityarenoteligibleforthebenefit

ofreservationunderPHcategory.

iv)ThePHcertificateshouldhavebeenissued,withinthreemonths,prior

tolastdateforsubmissionofapplicationforclaimingthebenefitof

reservation.

v)TheMedicalBoardconstitutedbytheNIMSwillexaminethese

candidatesand

scrutinize

their

claim

for

reservation

under

PH

for

conformationofeligibility.

C. Therosterpointsystemforstatutoryreservationsshallbefollowedby

takingthetotalnumberofseatsinallthecourses.

i. TheseatsreservedforscheduledTribesshallbemadeavailabletoScheduledCastesandViceversa,ifqualifiedcandidatesarenot

availableinthecategory.

IfqualifiedcandidatesbelongingtoScheduledCastesandScheduled

Tribescommunitiesarenotavailabletheleftoverseatsreservedfor

themshallbetreatedasunreservedseatsandshallbefilledbythe

qualifiedcandidatesfromgeneralpool.

VII. ApplicationProcedure

1. AcandidatemustsubmitbothsoftandhardcopiesoftheApplicationform.2. Itmaybeensured that the4stepapplicationprocessasdetailedbelow is

followed.

must

be

created

using

an

existing

ID,

CandidatesName,DateofBirthandaPassword.

a) EmailIDshouldbealreadyexisting,activeandshouldbevalid. EmailIDonce filled cannot be changed. It may be ensured that Email ID is

correctlyfilledfailingwhichnocommunicationswilloccur.

b) Email IDandPasswordwillbetheapplicantsUserNameandPasswordforaccessingonlineapplication form. IncasethePassword is forgotten

the applicant may click on Forgot Password tab and follow the

procedure.

c) Theapplicants fullnameshouldbethesameasgiven in thesecondarySchoolLeavingCertificateorequivalentexamination.

d) DateofBirth shouldbe the sameas recorded in the Secondary SchoolLeavingCertificateorequivalentexamination

e) Onceregistered,theregistrationdetailscannotbechanged.

AdemanddraftmaybeobtainedforRs.2,000/ (Rupeestwothousandonly)

in favourof theDirector,Nizams InstituteofMedical Sciences,payableat

Hyderabador

by

paying

Rs.2,000/

in

NIMS

cash

counter

in

person.

The

candidatesmustwritehis/hernameandapplicationregistrationnumberon

thebacksideoftheDD/NIMScashreceipt. Applicationfeeisnonrefundable

eveniftheapplicationissummarilyrejected.

Step3:

a) Itisimportanttoobtainadigitalcopyofapassportsizephotographorasoftcopyofthescannedphotographofsizenotmorethan100KB.

b) Thesignatureofthecandidatemaybe inserted inanareaof2x1onwhitepaperwithblackballpointpen. Thesignatureareaof2x1may

bescanned,

cropped

and

saved

for

uploading

with

the

online

d) TheViewbuttonmaybeclickedtoseethefilledinapplicationformandforanyediting.

e) Applicant can edit the application details only before submitting theapplication. OnceSubmitbutton isclickedhe/shewillnotbeable to

editthedetails. Therefore,Submitbuttonshouldbeclickedonlyafter

ensuringthatalltheapplicationdetailsarecorrect inallrespectsbefore

thefinalandirrevocablesubmission.

4. Thefilledinapplicationsreceivedaftertheprescribeddateandtimeshallnotbeconsidered. TheInstitutewillnotberesponsiblefornonreceiptof

applicationsordelayinpostaltransit.

5. AnacknowledgementalongwiththeRegistrationNumberwillbesenttothecandidate byEmail aftertheApplicationisreceived

6. Aftertheapplicationsareprocessed,candidateswillbeinformedofthestatusoftheirapplications.Ifthereisanydiscrepancyornonsubmissionof

requireddocuments,candidateswillbeinformedbyemail. Theymayalso

checkthestatusoftheirApplicationonlineafterloggingin. Incasethereare

4. ThesyllabusforEntranceTestshallbethatofMBBSstandardoftheUniversitiesinAndhraPradeshState.

5. Allquestionswillbeofonebest/correctresponsetypehavingfouralternatives.6. Morethanoneanswerindicatedagainstaquestionwillbedeemedasincorrect

responseandnegativemarkswillbegiven.

7. Eachanswerwithcorrectresponseshallbeawardedonemark.8. Zeromarkwillbegivenforthequestionsnotanswered.9. Negativemarkswillbegivenforincorrectresponse. Foreveryincorrect

response0.25markwillbededucted.

10.Theentrancetestshallbeconductedatthevenueanddateandtimespecifiedbytheinstitute.

11.Candidateswillreceiveoneofthefoursetsofaquestionbooklet. Thesamequestionswillbearrangedindifferentorderineachset. Itisthecandidates

responsibilitytodarkentheappropriatequestionbookletcodeintheOMR

answersheet. CandidateshouldalsowritetheOMRanswersheetserial

numberinthequestionbookletandreturnittotheinvigilatorattheendof

examination. OMRanswersheetsofthecandidatesnotcomplyingwith

instructionsor

resorting

to

malpractice

of

any

kind

will

not

be

evaluated.

12.Theminimumpercentageofmarksforeligibilityintheentranceexaminationforadmissiontopostgraduatemedicalcoursesshallbe50%forgeneral

categorycandidates,45%forpersonswithlocomotorydisabilityoflowerlimbs

asdefinedearlierand40%forthecandidatesbelongingtoScheduledCastes,

ScheduledTribesandotherBackwardClasses.

13.Candidatesappearingforentrancetestwillnotbepaidanytravelingallowance.

14.Candidates

indulging

in

malpractice

during

the

entrance

examination

will

be

disqualifiedandtheirhallticketsshallbeconfiscated.Themalpractice

informationwillbeforwardedtoMedicalCouncilofIndiafornecessaryaction

inadditiontoanyactiontakenbyNIMSadministration.Themarksofsuch

candidateswillnotbedisplayed.

15.TheExaminationandEvaluationprocesstopostgraduateadmissionsatNIMSistotallytransparent:

i. Thequestionpapersaresetbyarandomcomputerselectionfromaquestionbankthatisvalidatedbyanappointedseniorfaculty.

ii. Immediatelyaftertheexamination,thequestionpaperandtheindividualperformancesasevaluatedbythecomputerizedsystemagainstrightanswersarepublishedonNIMSwebsite.

iii. Candidatesaregiven48hourstolodgeanycomplaintswithregardtothequestionpaper,theanswerkeyprovidedandthe

evaluationoftheindividualperformancesasperceivedbythe

candidates. Allthecomplaintsareregisteredandacknowledged.

iv. ThecomplaintsarelookedintobytheFacultyappointedforthepurposewhowouldthengivetheirconsideredreportwith

reasonsandreferencesfrommedicalliterature. Thereportofthe

Facultyisconsideredfinalandnofurtherenquiriesare

entertained.

v. Afterthecomplaintsareresolvedthefinalevaluationofindividualcandidatesalongwiththemeritlistofcandidatesispublishedon

NIMSwebsite.

vi. Noindividualcorrespondencewillbeentertainedatanystage.

IX. MethodofSelection

1. SelectionwillbemadebasedontheperformanceofthecandidatesattheCommonEntranceTesti.e.NIMSET2012.

2 In the event of two or more candidates securing equal marks in the entranceexamination, their inter se merit in the descending order shall be determined

asfollows:

i. Candidatescoringlessnegativemarksfollowedbyii. Candidateseniorinagewillbefollowedbyiii. CandidatesecuringhigheraggregatemarksinFinalMBBSexamination

(PartIandPartII).

4. Themarksobtainedbythecandidatesintheentranceexaminationandmeritlistalongwiththenamesofcandidatesqualifiedforcounselingwillbe

displayedonthenoticeboardoftheInstitute/website

http://www.nimsexams.inonthedatespecified. Incasethecandidatefails

toreportforcounselinghe/sheforfeitstherighttoadmission.

5. Candidateshavetoreportforcounselingonthedatespecifiedinperson. Norequestforpostponingthedateofcounselingorrequesttoappearatan

earlierdateshallbeentertained. Incase,acandidatefailstoreportfor

counselingatthedateandtimespecified,he/sheforfeitstherightto

admissionandtheseatshallbeofferedtothenextcandidateinthemeritlist.

Thecandidatesrecommendedforprovisionaladmissionarerequiredtopay

anamountofRs.10,000/ (Rupeestenthousandonly)towardscounselingfee

immediately.This

amount

will

be

adjusted

against

the

admission

fee

to

be

paidalongwiththebalanceoftheadmissionfeetobecollectedatthetime

ofadmission. Incase,thecandidatedoesnot,foranyreason,reportfor

admissionbeforespecifieddatehe/shewillforfeitthecounselingfee. The

counselingprocedureisdescribedatAnnexureIII.

6. Thecandidateselectedatcounselingwillbegivenaprovisionaladmissionletter.

X. Admission

1. Allthosecandidateswhohavebeenallottedtheseathavetopaythefeeasspecifiedandsubmittheoriginalcertificatesonthedateofadmission.Allthe

candidatesjoiningthepostgraduatedegreecourseshallexecuteabondand

undergomedicalexaminationbyaboardconstitutedbyNIMSonorbefore

thestipulateddate. Thebondshouldbeonnonjudicialstampedpaperof

Rs.100/ valuealongwithtwosuretiesatthetimeofadmissionasperthe

formatenclosedtotheprospectusatAnnexureIVthattheyshallcomplete

thecoursefailingwhichtheconditionsofthebondshallbeinvoked. The

suretiesonthebondshouldbenotbelowtherankofGazettedOfficers. The

signatureofthesuretyshouldbesupportedbyseal/rubberstamp.

2. Afterthecertificatesarescrutinizedandfoundtobeinorder,thecandidatesignsanagreementandhe/sheisgiventheadmissionletter. Thisistreatedas

completionoftheadmissionprocess.

3. Ifanycandidatediscontinuesthecourseatanytimeorisrelievedonhis/herrequestforanyreasonthefeethatispaidwillnotberefunded. Inaddition

he/shehastopayapenaltyasindicatedbelow:

b) Afterclosureofadmissions,acandidatecanseekhis/heroriginalcertificatesonfulfillingthefollowingconditions:Depositorfurnishabank

guaranteeinfavouroftheinstituteforRs.1,00,000/ inadditionto

stipendtobereceivedfortheremainingperiodofcoursefromthedate

ofseekingthecertificates.

c) Thefeepaidatthetimeofcounseling/admissionisnotrefundableunderanycircumstances

4. ForcandidateswhoarepursuingstudiesandwhocannotdeposittheoriginalcertificatesatthetimeofcounselinghavetobringXeroxcopiesofthe

originalcertificatesdulyattestedbythecontrollingauthoritiesofthe

institution.They

shall

also

produce

acertificate

from

the

institution

that

they

havenoobjectiontothecandidatesadmissiontothepostgraduatedegree

courseandintheeventofselectionofthecandidatetothecoursehe/she

shallberelieved immediately. Failuretosubmittheabovecertificatesshall

renderthecandidatesbeingineligibleforcounseling.

5. Inallmattersrelatingtocounselingandadmission,thedecisionoftheInstituteshallbefinalandbindingonthecandidatesandselectioncannotbe

questionedafteradmissionsareclosed.

6. Noindividualcorrespondencewillbemadeforcounseling/admission.CandidatesarerequestedtofollowtheinformationdisplayedatNIMSnotice

XI. Afteradmission

1. Thecoursesarefulltimecourses. Thecandidatesshallbefulltimeresident.

No

postgraduate

is

allowed

to

do

any

private

practice

or

consultation.

The

tuitionfeeshallbepaidbefore5th

ofeverymonth. Forsuchofthosecandidates

receivingstipendthetuition feeshallbededucted fromthestipendpayableto

them.

2. ThecandidateshallnotregisterforanyotherDegree/Diplomaandcontinue

thestudiesconcurrentlywhiledoingthepresentcourse.

3. Accommodationwill be provided tothecandidates to theextentavailable

onarent fixed as per rulesof Institute. Theywillhavetonecessarilystayin

theaccommodationifprovidedbytheInstitute.

4. DutiesandresponsibilitiesofResidentsjoiningMD/MScoursesshallbefixed

bytheInstitutefromtimetotime.Theywillberequiredtopursuesuchworksas

maybeneededinthelegitimateinterestofpatientcareinthehospital.

5. All selected candidates must maintain a logbook recording their dayto

dayacademicactivities, which are to be submitted to theDirectorthrough

properchannelonceinsixmonths.

6. Theselectedcandidateswillhavetosubmitthesis/researchdocumentsasper

rulesofInstitutethatshallbeissuedinaccordancetotheMCIguidelines.

7. TheadmissionofeachResidentwillbesubjectto medicalfitness.The

MedicalBoardappointedbytheInstitutewilldecidethemedicalfitness. The

decisionoftheMedicalBoardshallbefinal.

8.Thestudentsshallmaintainstrictdisciplineduringtheperiodofstudy/training

programmeintermsofconductrulesoftheNIMS. Violationoftheconductrules

will result in the cancellation of the admission of the candidate apart from

invokingthe terms and conditionsofthebond. Thecandidateshallnotresort

toanystrikesduringtheperiodoftheirstudyinderelictionoftheirdutiesorair

their views criticizing the policies of the Institute either before the print or

ElectronicMediaoranywhere.

9. Candidates found to be ineligible at any stage of examination will not be

permitted toappear in theexamination. Inanunlikelyeventofany ineligible

candidateappearing

and/or

being

successful

in

the

examination

the

result

of

suchcandidateshallbecancelledand/oraredeemedtobecancelled.

10. Allthecandidatesjoiningthecourseshallworkasfulltime

residentsduringtheperiodoftrainingandshallattendnotlessthan80%

XII. Stipend/Salary

1. Stipend/salaryasfixedbytheInstitutefromtimetotimeshallbepaid.2. Stipend/salarywillbepaidtothePostgraduatestudentswhoareregularin

attendanceandshowgoodprogresseverymonth. Thetotalperiodduring

whichthestudentsarepaidstipendshallnotexceed36monthsfor

Postgraduatedegreecourses. Nocandidatewillbeeligibletodrawthe

stipendformorethan36monthsduringhis/herentirestudyperiod.

3. InservicecandidatesservingGovernmentofAndhraPradeshandotherGovernmentinstitutionswillnotbepaidstipend.

4. The postgraduate degree candidates must complete the final examinationwithinaperiodof8years from thedateofadmission to thecourse, failing

whichthecandidatewillberequiredtoreregisterforPostGraduatedegree

XIII. Closureofadmissions:

Theadmissionsstandclosedbytheprescribeddateandthecoursesshall

commencefromthenotifieddate. Duetounforeseenreasonsifaseatfalls

order

of

merit

as

per

rules

will

be

considered

for

admission

i.e.,onorbefore31/05/2012.

XIV. Leave

1. Thecandidatesareeligiblefor30daysallpurposeleaveinanacademicyear.Theentitlementincludesleaveforsicknessandattendanceofprofessionalconferences

14.Forcandidateswhoarepursuingstudiesandwhocannotdeposittheoriginal

certificatesatthetimeofcounselinghavetobringXeroxcopiesoftheoriginal

certificatesdulyattestedbythecontrollingauthoritiesoftheinstitution.They

shallalso

produce

acertificate

from

the

institution

that

they

have

no

objection

to

thecandidatesadmissiontothepostgraduatedegreecourseandintheeventof

selectionofthecandidatetothecoursehe/sheshallberelieved immediately.

Failuretosubmittheabovecertificatesshallrenderthecandidatesbeing

ineligibleforcounseling.
