Department of Electronics BS Electronics & Communication MS Electronics & Communication The Electronics department at the University of Lahore offers undergraduate and graduate degree programmes. This area of study establishes the background of students in electronics while focusing on Communication. In order to meet the requirements of the industry as well as to pace up with the rapid changes and advancements taking place in this field, the course has been designed so that the students understand the basic concepts as well learn to handle practical issues in the related field thorough comprehensive teaching based on solving open ended problems using software as well as hardware experiments in lab. BS Electronics & Communication FACT FILE: Short title: BSEC Type and duration: Full-time, 4 years (morning) Entry requirements: Intermediate (minimum 2nd division) Other qualifications accepted: GCE, A-Levels, DAE, ICS Credit hours: 135 Location: Lahore Programme Description The Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communication program offered at The University of Lahore will provide quality education in electronics and communication, to meet the emerging needs of many employers in the region. The program emphasizes learning of fundamental electronics and communication knowledge in subjects such as signals and systems, digital logic, circuits and electronics, theory and applications of digital communications. Several credit hours of computer and engineering laboratory work are included in the program. Graduates of this program can therefore easily adopt themselves completely into the various fields of electronics such as telecommunications, radio and TV broadcasting and other communication technologies, embedded system design, industrial electronics and instrumentation, semiconductor applications, systems analysis and controls, and even in the software and hardware side of computer science and electronics. The only requirement for joining this programme is 12 years of education (in any field), personal interest and aptitude for engineering. Understandably, this programme is not recognized by Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) because of the entrance requirements but is recognized by the Higher education commission. At the University of Lahore, we believe that a student with personal interest and aptitude for engineering can be prepared in a short time of one semester for induction into the engineering programme. Thus, we have designed the programme “Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communication” (BSEC) to allow students to make the engineering career selection at a point of time when they have had a chance to discover their capabilities and career paths. Eligibility Criteria Intermediate or equivalent (any subject) with minimum second division. Preparatory Semester In addition to eligibility criteria the selected students, based on their test results, may be required to take the preparatory semester in which major emphasis is given to English comprehension Physics and Mathematics to prepare them for induction in BSEC programme. Degree Requirement Prep-semester + 8 semesters A period of 4 years duration and minimum of 135 credit hours have to be earned as per programme structure

The MSEC program offered at the University of Lahore has been designed for professionals working in the industry willing to enhance their technical skills and knowledge for career advancement. It prepares individuals to apply advanced mathematical and scientific principles to the design, development and operational evaluation of electronics and communication systems. The degree program focuses on developing the skills required to design electronics & communication solutions that meet industrial, military and international technical standards. Students are required to design, manufacture and deliver a working product that meets these industry standards.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidate should hold at least degree in BS Electronics & Communication / Electronics / Computer / Telecom from an HEC recognized institution to get admission in this programme. Admission Criteria CGPA of 2.5 at Bachelor level plus interview. Degree Requirement 30 credit hours with 2 years duration and a CGPA of 2.5 is required for the award of MSEC degree. Programme structure The MS programme is an evening programme of 30 credit hours and it is spread over four semesters. The students are required to choose four courses from core and four from technical electives. The students will complete 24 credit hours of coursework plus 6 credit hours of thesis / final project.
