VidyaPratishthan’sVasantraoPawarLawCollegeBaramatiwasstartedintheyear1999.Presentlythelawcollegeisrunningboth3yearsLL.B.and5yearsB.A.,LL.B.coursesandalsothediplomacourseslikeDLL.&LW,CyberLawandDTL.Sofar15batchesofLL.Bstudentshavepassedoutfromthiscollegeandtheyareimmenselyhelpingthesocietytosolvelawrelatedproblemsindifferentregions.
Infact,teachingoflegaleducationisablendingandmixtureofboththeoryandpractice.Forachievingthisobjectiveandimprovingtheskillsofadvocacythecollegeisprovidingclinical legal education.Apart from thiswealso encourageour students toparticipate inMootcourt,debate,mocktrialandpersonalitydevelopmentProgrammes.Weemphasisoncurricular,andextra-curricularactivitiesinthecollege.

VidyaPratishthanisasocietyregisteredunderSocietiesRegistrationActandalsoatrustregisteredunderBombayPublicTrustAct.FormerUnionMinisterforAgriculture,GovernmentofIndiaHon’bleSharadchandraGovindraoPawaristhefounderPresidentofVidya Pratishthan.Vidya Pratishthan’sVasantrao Pawar LawCollegewas established in1999atBaramatiwiththeobjectofimpartingqualitylegaleducationtothestudentsinruralareaataffordablecost.TheCollegeisnamedafterlateAdv.VasantraoPawarwhousedtorepresentpoorlitigantsincourtsoflawwithoutcharginganyfee.
TheCollegeisrecognizedbytheBarCouncilofIndia,NewDelhi.Itisaffiliatedto Savitribai Phule PuneUniversity.This year theCollegewill be accredited for qualitybyNationalAssessment andAccreditation Council, Bangalore. The College has alreadysubmittedSelf-StudyReportforthepurposeofNAACaccreditation.
TheCollegepresentlyoffersThreeyearsLL.B.&FiveyearsB.A.,LL.B.coursesforwhichithasreceivedpermanentaffiliationfromSavitribaiPhulePuneUniversity.ThreeyearsLL.B.courseisaided,whileFiveyearsB.A.,LL.B.courseisunaided.TheCollegealsooffersDiplomainLabourLawandLabourWelfareandDiplomainCyberLawasthevalueaddedcourses.
The College promotes students’ diversity and provides reservation as per theapplicablerulestotheweakersectionsofthesociety.TheCollegelaysemphasisonclinicallegaleducationbyconductingmootcourts,mocktrialsandlegalliteracycampsinnearbyvillages.Italsohelpsstudentsbelongingtoweakersectionstogetgovernmentscholarshipsandfreeships.
Inorder todeveloptheadvocacyskillsamongthestudents the theorypapersareblended with practical sessions and it help the students in future in court practice. TheCollegealsoprovidesguidancetothestudentsappearingforJMFCexaminationconductedbyMPSC.StudentCounsellingCentreisalsoestablishedbythecollege.GrievanceRedressalCellisalsoestablishedforpromptredressalofgrievancesofthestudents.
Inordertoimprovethequalityofteachingandlearningandotherservicesprovided,thecollegecollectsfeedbackfromstudents,alumni,advocatesandparents.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS TO THE STUDENTS
1. The college has prescribedUniform for the students and it is white shirt and blacktrouser.GirlsmaywearwhitePunjabidressalso.UniformiscompulsoryonallworkingdaysexceptWednesday.
2. 75%attendance ismandatory for the students as per theBarCouncil of India rules,failingwhichthestudentwillnotbeallowedtoappearfortheUniversityexamination.
3. The consumption of tobacco and gutka is strictly prohibited in the college and thecampus.
4. Pre-semesterexaminationismandatoryinordertoappearfortheUniversityexamination
5. ThemediumofinstructionforalltheprogrammesisEnglishonly.
6. The students shall complete the research projects given from time to time by theconcernedfaculty.
7. Thestudentsshallusetheinfrastructuralfacilitieswithduecareandcautionandshallnotcauseanydamagetothesame.
8. ThestudentsshallmakeuseofOPACandManupatra legaldatabaseavailable in thecollege.
9. Anyactofraggingisprohibitedinthecollegecampusandhostels.Criminalandotherappropriateactionwillbetakenagainstthestudent/sfoundguilty.
10. Sexual harassment is strictly prohibited. The victim shall approach the complaintsredressalcommitteebywayoffilingacomplaint.

RESERVATION CANDIDATES

2) INTEGRATED FIVE YEAR DEGREE LAW COURSE (B.A.,LL.B):i)An applicant who has successfully completed Senior Secondary School Course (‘+2’) orequivalentsuchas11+1,‘A’levelinSeniorSchoolLeavingcertificatecourse)fromarecognisedUniversity of India or utside or from a Senior Secondary Board or equivalent, constitutedor recognised by theUnion or by StateGovernment or from any equivalent institution froma foreign country recognised by theGovernment of that country for the purpose of issue ofqualifyingcertificateonsuccessfulcompletionofthecourse,mayapply forandbeadmittedintotheprogrammeoftheCentresofLegalEducationtoobtaintheintegrateddegreeinlawwithadegreeinanyothersubjectasthefirstdegreefromtheUniversitywhosesuchadegreeinlawisrecognisedbytheBarCouncilofIndiaforthepurposeofenrolment.Providedthatapplicantswhohaveobtained+2HigherSecondaryPassCertificateorFirstDegreecertificateafterprosecutingstudiesindistanceorcorrespondencemethodshallalsobeconsideredforeligibleforadmissionintheintegratedFiveYearsorthreeYearsLL.BCourse,asthecasemaybe.Explanation:Theapplicantswhohaveobtained10+2orgraduation/post-graduationthroughopen universities systemdirectlywithout having any basic qualification for prosecuting suchstudiesarenoteligibleforadmissioninthelawcourses.Ref:(Rule5(b)ofBarCouncilofIndiaRulesofLegalEducation,2008)
3) PROHIBITION TO REGISTER FOR TWO REGULAR COURSES OF STUDY :NostudentshallbeallowedtosimultaneouslyregisterforaLawdegreeprogrammewithanyothergraduateorpostgraduateofcertificatecourserunbythesameoranyotheruniversityoraninstitutionforacademicorprofessionallearningexceptingintheintegrateddegreeprogrammeofthesameinstitution.Provided that any short period part time certificate course on language, computer science orcomputerapplicationofaninstituteoranyrunbyacentreforDistanceLearningofaUniversityhowever,shallbeexempted.Ref:(Rule6ofBarCouncilofIndiaRulesofLegalEducation,2008)
4) MINIMUM MARKS IN QUALIFYING EXAMINATION FOR ADMISSION :BarCouncilofIndiamayfromtimetotime,stipulatetheminimumpercentageofmarksnotbelow45%ofthetotalmarksincaseofgeneralcategoryapplicantsand40%ofthetotalmarksincaseofSCandSTapplicants,tobeobtainedforthequalifyingexamination,suchas+2examinationin case of integratedfive year course or degree course in any discipline for three yearLL.Bcourse,forthepurposeofapplyingforandgettingadmittedintoaLawdegreeprogramofanyrecognisedUniversityineitherofthestreams.ProvidedthatsuchaminimumqualifyingmarksshallnotautomaticallyentitleapersontogetadmissionintoaninstitutionbutonlyshallentitlethepersonconcernedtofulfilotherinstitutionalcriterianotifiedbytheinstitutionconcernedorbytheGovernmentconcernedfromtimetotimetoapplyforadmission.Ref:(Rule7ofBarCouncilofIndiaRulesofLegalEducation,2008)

5) PROHIBITION AGAINST LATERAL ENTRY AND EXIT :ThereshallbenolateralentryonthepleaofGraduationinanysubjectorexitbywayofawardingdegree splitting the integrated double degree course, at any intermediary stage of integrateddoubledegreecourse.”However aUniversitymay permit any person to audit any subject or number of subjects byattendingclassesregularlyandtakingthetestsforobtainingaCertificateofParticipationfromtheUniversity/FacultyaccordingtotherulesprescribedbytheUniversityfromtimetotimeandgiveaCertificatetherefore.Ref:(Rule13ofBarCouncilofIndiaRulesofLegalEducation,2008)

TheCollegehasexcellentlibraryandcomputerlab.Anumberoftextandreferencebooksareavailable in the library. IthasacollectionofAll IndiaReporter from1950 till2016and it isupgradedcontinuously.TheCollegehassubscribedtoanumberoflawjournalsincludingforeignlawjournals.IthasalsosubscribedtoManupatralegaldatabase. Theclassroomsarespaciouswithgoodventilation.SomeoftheclassroomsareequippedwithLCDfacility forconductingpowerpoint (ppt) lectures.TheCollegealsohasa spaciousMootCourtHall,DisabilityResourceCentre,etc.Thecollegehasanumberofsharedfacilitiessuchascanteen,cricketground,volleyballground,separategymnasiaforboysandgirlsandbadmintoncourts.ThereisalsoaspaciousauditoriumGadima named after popularMarathi poet late G.D.Madgulkar. Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, KishoriAmonkar,KaushikiChakravarty, ShankarMahadevan andmanyother artists have given liveperformancesinthisauditoriumsofar. (Firstpublished,afterhavingreceivedtheassentoftheGovernorinthe“MaharashtraGovernmentGazette”,onthe15May1999.)AnActtoprohibitraggingineducationalinstitutionsintheStateofMaharashtraWHEREASitisexpedientto-enactaspeciallawtoprohibitraggingineducationalinstitutionsintheStateofMaharashtra.ItisherebyenactedintheFiftiethYearoftheRepublicofIndiaasfollows:(1)Shorttitleandcommencement:ThisActmaybecalledtheMaharashtraProhibitionofRaggingAct,1999.ItshallcomeintoforceonsuchdateastheStateGovernmentmay,bynotificationintheOfficialGazette,appoint.(2)Definitions1.”Educational institution”means and includes a college, or other institution bywhatever namecalled,carryingontheactivityorimpartingeducationtherein(eitherexclusivelyoramongotheractivities);andincludesanorphanageoraboardinghomeorhosteloratutorialinstitutionoranyotherpremisesattachedthereto;2.“Headoftheeducationalinstitution”meanstheVice-ChancelloroftheUniversity,deanofMedi-calFaculty,DirectoroftheInstitutionorthePrincipal,headmasterorthepersonresponsibleforthemanagementoftheeducationalinstitution;3.“Ragging”meansdisplayofdisorderlyconduct,doingofanyactwhichcausesorislikelytocausephysicalpsychologicalharmorraiseapprehensionorfearorshameorembarrassmenttoastudentinanyeducationalinstitutionandincludes(i)teasing,abusing,threateningorplayingpracticaljokeson,orcausinghurtto,suchstudent;or(ii)askingastudenttodoanyactorperformsomethingwhichsuchstudentwillnot,intheordinarycourse,willingly,do.(3)ProhibitionofraggingRaggingwithinoroutsideofanyeducationalinstitutionisprohibited.(4)PenaltyforraggingWhoeverdirectlyorindirectlycommits,participatesin,abetsorpropagatesraggingwithinorout-sideanyeducationinstitutionshall,onconviction,bepunishedwithimprisonmentforatermwhichmayextendtotwoyearsandshallalsobeliabletoafinewhichmayextendtotenthousandrupees.(5)DismissalofstudentAnystudentconvictedofanoffenceundersection4shallbedismissedfromtheeducationalinstitu-tionandsuchstudentshallnotbeadmittedinanyothereducationalinstitutionforaperiodoffiveyearsfromthedateoforderofsuchdismissal.(6)Suspensionofstudent1.Wheneveranystudentor,asthecasemaybe,theparentorguardian,orateacherofaneducationalinstitutioncomplains,inwriting,ofraggingtotheheadoftheeducationalinstitution,theheadofthateducationalinstitutionshall,withoutprejudicetotheforegoingprovisions,withinsevendaysofthereceiptofthecomplaint,enquireintothemattermentionedinthecomplaintandif;primafacie,itisfoundtrue,suspendthestudentwhoisaccusedoftheoffence,andshall,immediatelyforwardthecomplainttothepolicestationhavingjurisdictionovertheareainwhichtheeducationalinstitu-tionissituated,forflirteraction.2.Where,onenquirybytheheadoftheeducationalinstitution,itisprovedthatthereisnosubstance,primafacie,inthecomplaintreceivedundersub-section(1),heshallintimatethefact,inwriting,tothecomplainant.3.Thedecisionoftheheadoftheeducationalinstitutionthatthestudenthasindulgedinraggingundersub-section(1),shallbefinal.
