Chapter 1, Internet Access Configuration

2 Aastra – 2673-002

Access Cyclades Through Browser To access the Cyclades through the browser, you must first set up Internet Access on the Cyclades Server. Accomplish this using the following steps:

For the CAS application to run, you must ensure that your workstation has Java 2 Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.4.2 (located at www.java.com) installed and your browser acknowledged to use it.

Step Action Result

1. Connect a terminal to console input of Cyclade’s Alterpath Console Server box.

If this is a first time configuration, you must set the terminal to 9600 baud, 8 bits, no parity.

2. Power on the AlterPath Console Server.

After the AlterPath Console Server finishes booting, you see a login prompt on the console screen.

3. Enter “root” as login name, and “tslinux” as password.

If the box has been reconfigured to different password for root, use that password if known – if you do not know the password, refer to procedure for setting password if lost.

4. When prompt becomes available enter “wiz.”

A configuration wizard screen appears and asks a series of questions. Follow the instructions to configure the following:

When asked if you wish to set to defaults, please reply with no “N”.

Set to defaults (Y/N)? [N]: N

Network managers for the attached network should specify most of the following information.

Hostname: the name on the network this machine is known by. For example “EADSServerA” – for the “A” CU.

Cyclades Server Access Configuration Guide

Step Action Result

DHCP enabled/disabled: if your network assigns IP addresses through DHCP, set this to enabled; otherwise set it to disabled and enter fixed IP address. (below).

IP Address: if DHCP is disabled in the above step, set this to the fixed IP address assigned to this device.

Network management may need to do some setup to use this option.

Domain Name: enter the desired domain name.

Primary DNS service: enter the IP address of the primary direct name server (DNS) to be used.

Gateway IP: enter the address of the gateway used to connect to other sub-networks.

Network Mask: if DHCP is disabled, enter the network mask. This mask determines what IP addresses need to go through the above Gateway device.

Once you answer all questions, the program shows the results and asks you to validate that these values are correct.

5. Review the values and if they are correct enter “y.”

After you confirm the parameters, the system asks the next question: do you want to activate your changes?

6. Select “y” to activate changes. The system will ask: Do you want to save your configuration to flash?

7. Select “y” to save changes. The system will save the changes and exit the wizard.

8. Change the “root” user password for the CAS system.

This password is separate from the web

Step Action Result root user password used in a later configuration and cannot be changed using the web access.

9. Enter “passwd” and reply to the prompts to enter a new password.

This is the master password for the CAS so DO NOT lose it. If you lose it, there is a procedure to allow resetting the password, but it is NOT included in this manual.

10. Enter “saveconf” to make the new password permanent.

Use a web browser to easily complete the remaining configurations.
