believes that all good furniture and art can be combined together successfully regardless of style, period, or price. Drawing on his international background and love of travel, he combs the world to find exquisite and unique pieces for his clients.

JC approaches his projects with the eye of a curator, integrating art and objects into the flow of everyday life. A proponent of introducing the element of luxury into all spaces, even the most utilitarian, he shares his inspiring ideas for how to infuse every room with personality and generosity of spirit.

JC’s extensive knowledge of the fine arts, modern and historic furnishings is revealed in engaging commentary that details his creative process, disclosing his most valuable tips, as well as

explaining how his experiences have informed the creation of his own custom furniture.

“My vision has evolved over many years. My first decoration for my venerable uncle’s villa gave me a platform to demonstrate my knowledgeable to the audience all good things can put together and enrich each other.

I have the pleasure of working with clients whose informed taste in art and fine objects have permitted me to integrate a diverse collection into their homes. I am constantly being educated about prized possessions by their owners, and often, my view of objects for which I originally felt no affinity changes through proximity and influenced by my cultured clients.” JC says.

some thought to Alan to explore the used furniture market and if it is feasible to operate in HK.

Engaging with Friends of the Earth (FoE) Hong Kong, we wish to promote the collection of used furniture and homeware, and to help educate the society about the value of sustainable living. Part of the sales proceeds of the used items will go to FoE Hong Kong as a gesture to support their environmental protection work.

With the support of Green dot Home, some of the items collected will be donated to the public and others will be sold in second-hand markets with part of the proceeds donated to non-profit or charitable organizations.

In addition, we are hoping to promote the value of sustainable living by increasing the acceptance of these used items into our society.

When you have a large piece of furniture that you need to dispose, don’t just leave it out for the trash trucks, please consider calling us and getting involve in furniture recycling.

Stay green, and help building up a sustainable environment for you and your next generations!

Nowadays, our world’s natural resources and energy are being used up at an alarming rate. Besides, the rapid deforestation is

wiping out the earth’s forests while massive tons of waste is produced every second, which makes it more important and imperative for us to implement recycling, reducing as well as reusing. The 3Rs, reduce, reuse, and recycle, help cutting down on the amount of waste that we produce, and to conserve natural resources, landfill space and energy.

In order to help providing a more sustainable environment, Property Finder partners with Green dot Home to launch a platform for recycling and collecting used furniture, wishing to minimize the amount of waste and disposal we send to our landfills. Speaking from his own experience, Alan Chuen, the founder of

Green dot Home, explained, “I started thinking about this initiative starting from around August last year after I have moved from a flat that was unfurnished to one that was fully furnished. I found a lot of my furniture could not fit into the new flat and it was very difficult in HK to find someone or an organization who can take my furniture in such a short notice.” This experience triggered

From Su Shi to Bada Shanren, recreates the popular iconology of classical Chinese painting in a highly original rendition. The act of painting on bamboo and other objects was inspired by the work of Su Shi, literary

titan and painter from the Northern Song Dynasty. The drive to subvert runs through the series, as the photographic captures of painted objects closely resemble classical Chinese painting. Such blurring of reality and

illusion alludes to the art of Bada Shanren (Mountain Man of the Eight Greats), master painter from the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty.

Dorina Mocan Solo Exhibition -Connoisseur Art Gallery

About ConnoisseurConnoisseur has been specializing in contemporary Chinese realist and figurative art since 1989. Hong Kong- based painter Tsui Tin-yun, whose works have been sold by Christie’s during many an auction, and Beijing-based artist Wang Jian are examples of talents supported by Connoisseur.

Dorina Mocan Solo ExhibitionDorina Mocan was born in Romania in 1954 and in 1981 she moved to Sweden, where she became one of the country’s most respected artists. Since 2005, she has been represented by Connoisseur Art Gallery, when she held her first solo exhibition in Hong Kong. This is now Mocan’s fourth solo exhibition by Connoisseur Art Gallery and has taken more than two years to prepare. Throughout her creative process, she is reminded of an “inner light” that critics often referred to when describing the experience of viewing her works, and it is her desire to include this dimension of light as a carrier of humanity. At the same time, Mocan’s work brings out the inner self in each of us; the child that is full of dreams and hopes and the young adult who loves to wonder through the world of the unknown.

Essess Designer Fabbrica

Essess Designer Fabbrica is a melting pot of ideas and workshops, starting

from the showroom itself. When Essess decided to completely renovate the space, they gave to the architect Roger Hackworth, founder of Collaborate Ltd, the brief to express the concept of Fabbrica (factory) even in the structure of the spaces. He considered the possibility to modify the showroom appearance any time and for different needs.

This is the reason why he created five moving panels: opening or closing them it is possible to completely change the areas and volumes of the space. The Essess team with the internal Marketing thought the idea to fulfill the panel space with images able to communicate the fusion between Italy and China mixing Italian classical landscapes with Chinese famous portraits and signs but just in black, white and Blue China colors.

The Designer Fabbrica concept was bors: giving value to simple things as the designer does daily in an industrial factory.

This project has been finalized thanks to the graphic artist Jacopo Pesavento who perfectly expressed the above idea.

And that's it: the David sculpted by Michelangelo becomes a simbol of strenght with a Chinese dragon tatoo on the back; the Colosseum is securely checked by the Chinese soldiers; the Venice Laguna is crossed by a Chinese rickshaw; the Pisa tower is now a brush that draws; the Duomo of Milan is closed by Chinese gates that keep safe the bird cages on the windows and is under a sky of kites.

That is Essess Designer Fabbrica, a place where beautiful minds give their best to create, invent and produce uniqueness and value.

A young couple experienced a resort-like home by turning a 5,000 sq ft house

into an oasis of calm.

Born and bred in the city, the young couple returned to Hong Kong after staying in Canada for 15 years and bought this 5,000 sq ft, a two-story villa.

“It was so vintage and very 70s,” says Joseph. “The most challenging part was getting rid of the dark, enclosed spaces.”

Joseph first decided to create a large staircase cavity at the entrance, and applying a square window above the front door would create a lofty feeling upon entering the apartment. The view from here up to the second story is obstructed only by a banister-free, open-tread staircase, which appears floating… above the ground.

The space is enhanced by the white walls and minimal decorations that include little more than a contoured, timber-look metal light piece hanging above the staircase.

“I don’t want too much detail,” says Joseph.

Instead, attention has been focused on a sense of fluidity, heightened by large bi-fold doors that open in the living room on a wooden-decked patio.

The atrium’s glass ceiling extends along the master bedroom’s floor width, allowing a clear view down to the ground floor, making it seem as though the master bedroom is floating above the living room, yet completely soundproofing from two areas.

The master bedroom’s en-suite bathroom includes a large oval bathtub and slim-line

cabinets that make the most of a difficult corner. What was the second bedroom is now a 200 sq ft walk-in closet attached to the master bedroom, the third bedroom is used as a guestroom and home office combo.

Downstairs, the kitchen, dining and living areas merge seamlessly due to an open-plan configuration and unfussy contemporary fixtures. The kitchen’s gray worktops and pale wooden cabinets convey an understated yet hip practicality.

“They always have home-based parties and invite many friends, so I opened up the originally enclosed kitchen to create more interactions between the kitchen and dining areas,” says Joseph.

The clean lines are enhanced by a neutral color scheme of gray, taupe and cream, used throughout the house.

“Joseph and I shared a similar interior-design concept, which is simple, modern, natural and “non-showy”, I saw passion in his eyes and the chemistry was there immediately when we first met,” says Louisa, the owner of the resort-like house.

In a final nod to the resort-style living, there is a gym at the back of the villa. It features a floor-to-ceiling mirrored wall and its own bathroom. What could have been a room for live-in helper is now the owner’s private exercise room.

“I love so much Joseph’s idea by giving me a bi-folding glass doors in the living room, the glass structure brings the maximum amount of sunlight into the house which is really dark and unpleasant before.”

“It's all about yoo.”

Who are yoo?As a world- leading design company, yoo is founded by the world’s most celebrated designer, Philippe Starck, and internal property entrepreneur John Hitchcox. yoo exists to help developer clients compete successfully in the property marketplace, by providing the very best in design, branding and marketing. yoo’s experience spans over 50 different projects and 27 countries, throughout Asia, Australia, Europe, Africa North and South America and the Middle East. yoo’s global achievements in design are a standing testament to the world- class quality the company is able to deliver.

The yoo Studio is a unique design house with experience of cutting edge design in over 24 countries. Serving the yoo tribe internationally, the studio has completed individual residences and hotels as well as bringing to fruition the visions of Creative Directors Philippe Starck, Marcel Wanders, Jade Jagger and Kelly Hoppen. This gives yoo Studio a unique design DNA that could only come from working with the world’s best.

Headed by Mark Davison, the studio’s experience is enhanced by its diversity of over 20 architects, interior and product designers with big imaginations, providing a choice of looks and styles to suit the lifestyles of today’s modern dwellers.

They only source the best quality fittings and furniture from around the world to create interiors that are imaginative, rare and individual - just like you. The yoo Studio’s global design expertise has developed a unique understanding of designing in different cultures, to create projects that respect and enliven the cultures in which they live.

“It's all about yoo.”yoo TeamThe yoo Design Studio was originally established to service the ideas of its star designers (first Philippe Starck, then Marcel Wanders, Jade Jagger, Kelly Hoppen and Anouska Hempel) providing what its head of design Mark Davison calls “the glue between the designers and the developers.” over time, however, this extremely talented and thoughtful group of product and interior designers and architects has inevitably developed its own unique intelligence and identity.

Now the yoo Design Studio happily functions as a creative force in its own right, taking on residential and hotel interiors, restaurants and larger architectural projects.

The team prides itself on taking on board the local context: “we’re not here to export European design around the world. We do a lot of research on the local context and weave that back in to the project,” says Mark Davison. “We know how to deliver unique spaces, and at different cost points.”

Stay UniqueNever stop chasing your dream house! yoo Studio is your choice to live in style, it’s all about yoo! Please contact us for more information if you are interested in a “yoo” designed investment and experience a unique way of life!
