Epiphany of the Lord January 7th, 2018
Reflection – Pastors Notes:
As we celebrate the solemnity of the Epiphany
of the Lord, we as the wise men, should come
with our own gifts to offer to baby Jesus. Frist,
we could come with gratitude for God’s
generosity and mercy towards us. Second, we
should offer awareness of our own self and of
God’s presence in our lives. Third, we could
bring a desire for peace and a resolution to
work for it. Fourth, we could be approaching
the Lord with freedom, to allow his will to
transform us. Fifth, we should be open to offer
our whole life, both our strengths and our
fragility. Sixth, we should bring to the presence
of Jesus those who surround u: the loved ones,
the needed, the stranger. Seventh, we could
offer then our prayer to him, who brings us
salvation.

The Latin American Mission Program (LAMP) is announcing that a new LAMP missionary, Ryan MacRae, is preparing to go to the Dominican Republic (DR). Ryan from Stratford will leave PEI before the end of January. Most Reverend Bishop Richard Grecco will preside over a missioning ceremony, indicating that Ryan is being sent by the Diocese of Charlottetown to the church in the Dominican Republic. In the DR, Ryan will be received by the Misioneros del Sacrado Corazón (Missionaries of the Sacred Heart) in Santiago de los Caballeros. He will live with a Dominican family to be introduced to the culture and to improve his Spanish. Ryan will become part of an organization, Fondacion Mujer Iglesia (Woman-Church Foundation). He will gradually involve himself in the work of Mujer Iglesia which is to improve the lives of impoverished families in the region by community organizing to develop the economic and social self-reliance of women. The missioning celebration will take place during the Sunday Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 9:00 AM. Refugee Sponsorship Consideration: We are living in an era where there are an inordinate number of displaced persons and refugees throughout the world. Clearly the need is great for asylum and refuge. As we enter the New Year, we invite your parish community to give consideration to sponsoring a family. By doing so you can make a difference and change their lives. - Diocesan Refugee Sponsorship Advisory Committee
Society of St. Vincent de Paul Founding Meeting

Spiritual Adoption of a Preborn Baby: “Your” baby spent the ninth month in the womb getting chubbier in
preparation for birth. Thanks to your prayers over the past nine months, many precious babies were given time to grow and develop and be safely delivered. May God Bless you for caring. As we have seen, life begins with conception.
Birth is only a change of residence for an already living active person. Thank you for your daily prayers:
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby, in danger of being aborted, that I have spiritually
adopted.
