What are Solids?

Images Infomation• Solids stay in one place and keep

their shape. They do not flow like liquids.

• Example of solid materials: Metals, wood, plastics, glass & stones • They can be: hard, smooth, rough, spikey, opaque and transparent. • Example of solid objects: Car, table, window, rock, book & box.

What are Liquids?

Images Information• A liquid can be poured or

flow easily.• A liquid can be turned into

a solid (freeze water into ice) or a gas (boiling water into steam).

• Example of liquids: Water, milk, soft drinks, juice, tea, coffee etc.

What are Gasses?

Images Information• Gasses are normally invisible

and do not keep their shape like solids.

• Heating a liquid turns it into a gas e.g. water into steam and cooling it turns it back into a gas.

• Example of gasses:Steam, oxygen nitrogen and air (Oxygen & Hydrogen)
