  • Projekt Zukunft: a service and information platform for Berlin

Berlin is among the most successful locations for IT, the crea-

tive industries and media technologies. The state initiative

Projekt Zukunft assists companies in these sunrise industries

and helps fund their innovative projects while spurring the

city‘s structural transformation into a competitive and desi-

rable European metropolis. our engagement has many

faces: with international and local networks we promote the

exchange of industry professionals and support the transfer

of expertise between creatives, science and commerce. We

organise industry events to stimulate momentum, moderate

dialogue between politics and the public and hold funding

    competitions for aspiring companies.

Projekt Zukunft is the service and information platform

for all actors in the IT, media and creative industries:

    www.projektzukunft.berlin.de

our work is financed by state funds as well as the European

    regional Development Fund.

  • Information and Communications

    INNOVATIVE – POWERFUL – CONNECTED

Berlin in the information society: since its founding in 1997,

Projekt Zukunft‘s goal has been to shape the city‘s progress

on this path while accompanying it along the way. Today

Berlin is among the leading locations for information and

communications technology in Germany. The companies

profit from the high density of scientific and research insti-

tutions, a large and highly skilled work force and effective

production conditions. The Projekt Zukunft initiative, along

with its partners, provides what is needed for pilot projects

and flagship applications. The main industry focal points are

the fields of broadband, e-government, internet, internet

services, security with IT, software/open source, connected

living and wireless. Expanding Berlin‘s status is the main ob-

jective of the common IT location strategy shared by the

Berlin senate, the Technology Foundation Berlin (TSB), Ber-

lin Partner GmbH, Investitionsbank and IHK Berlin.

Berlin is one of the leading ICT locations in Germany: –> 4,400 ICT companies – around 10 billion euros in revenue –

almost 37,000 employees subject to social security contributions

–> 40 percent increase in revenue and over 70 percent more companies since 2000

  • Creative Industries

    VIBRANT – ASPIRING – INTERNATIONAL

Creativity as capital: so diverse is the scene, so great is its

significance for the location – from media to fashion and de-

sign, from the art market to publishing, from the games in-

dustry to the music business. Testament to this fact are the

above-average growth and revenue figures for the cluster,

which incorporates the creative industries, including the

media sector, the ICT industry and related fields. The stee-

ring committee initiated by the senator for Economics, Tech-

nology and Women‘s Issues promotes this development: it

focuses on all themes relevant to Berlin‘s creative industries,

handles recommendations and strategies for policy and ins-

titutions of the federal state of Berlin and assists in their im-

    plementation.

Success through strategic networking: Projekt Zukunft seeks

nally, nationally and worldwide. The goal is to stimulate the
