File storage tool.
For organizing and managing electronic files.
Just like:
▪ ProjStore : Microsoft – Windows Based Server - File/Folder Structure
▪ SharePoint: Microsoft – Web/Meta Data Based (Preconstruction Project Sites)
▪ ProjectWise: Bentley – Client/Meta Data Based
o Meta data based file organization ... like SharePoint. POWER!!!
o Utilizing cloud based storage. (Server in Virginia)
o Check-out / Check-in workflow
o Allows file ‘state change’ workflow management. (Automation opportunity! ☺)

WHY ……. this tool?
It can handle CADD file referencing. (SharePoint cannot.)
o We can do CADD work natively in ProjectWise (cannot with SharePoint).
o Allows NCDOT and PEF access to files.
o Transmittal processes for external collaboration. (FTS built in)
▪ Acknowledgement and review/response tracking. (FTS doesn’t do)
o ProjectWise: 50% of U.S. DOTs
o Engineering News Record (ENR) Top Global Design Firms: ProjectWise

Anyone involved in NCDOT TIP project development.
o Federated security planned. (Will use NCID login.)
o COST: (PEF’s) $720/year/person VISA $128/year/person PASSPORT
(NCDOT) Covered in enterprise license (~$1M/yr Bentley)
o Currently four security tiers planned:
▪ Admin – Account Creation / Administering Project Access / Project Creation (CADD Services)
▪ Power User – Project Control - Discipline (Local Admin Person)
▪ PM User – Specific Project Control / Administering Project Access (Project Managers)
▪ User – Read/Write Access to files (Everyone else)
o Access speeds must be comparable to current (Caching server planned for western NC)
o Training materials (NCDOT & PEFs) … “SUPPORT & HELP” slide coming up
