Methodology

• Online survey to reach out to a large number of coworkers

• Survey was divided into several topic-related pages

• Clarity of the questions and layout was tested by five sampling units

• Closed-ended questions to ease analysis

• Collected from 10.07.2013 to 18.08.2013

• Distributed by space providers and social media

A word of caution

• Generalization of the results might be biased

– Non-random sample (e.g. coworkers who use social media were more likely to become part of the sample)

– Self-selection bias (i.e. the spaces or coworkers deciding to participate might have unique characteristics)

• However,

– 217 respondents constitute a proper basis for analysis

– Findings cross-referenced with the results of existing research

• Short duration of contract and reflecting a professional image were rarely chosen

• Community was the main selection criteria for choosing a particular coworking space
