THE HAVEN, IPOHBina Puri Holdings Bhd signed acontract with Superboom (Perak)Sdn Bhd for the ProposedConstruction and Completion of3 Blocks Apartments on Part ofLot 41396, Hulu Kinta, DaerahKinta, Ipoh, Perak for Messr. TheHaven Sdn Bhd. The projectinvolves all structural,architectural and M&E works forthe 3 Blocks Apartment; ie. BlockA, Block B and Block C. The totalcontract value is RM82.3 millionand the works commenced fromOctober 2010 for expectedcompletion in December 2012.

HOUSINGWORKS INKAMPUNG LUGU, BRUNEIBina Puri (B) Sdn Bhd enteredinto a sub-contract agreementwith Chuon Tzu Construction CoSdn Bhd to undertake theinfrastructure works for ahousing project known as SkimTanah Kurnia Rakyat JatiKampung Lugu in BruneiDarussalam. The total contractvalue is RM158.36 million andthe works is expected to becompleted in 36 months.

ONG SAM PING SERVICEDAPARTMENTS IN BRUNEIBINA Puri Holdings Bhd signed adeal with Brunei EconomicDevelopment Board to undertakeextensive interior and exteriorrenovation of three apartmentblocks and its common areasinto a modernised and fully-furnished serviced apartments inBandar Seri Begawan. Bina Puriwill operate the servicedapartments for 20 years andinvest B$9.2 million (RM21.25million) into the project.

NEW PROJECTS IN SABAHBina Puri Construction Sdn Bhdalso secured another 2 projectsin Kota Kinabalu as follows :

(1) Proposed 33 units (3 Blocks)of 2-3 Storey Shop Offices onpart of Lot 3, at Alamesra,Kuala Menggatal, KotaKinabalu, Sabah, withcontract amount of RM17.6million to be completed inMarch 2012.

(2) Ground Preparation Worksfor the Proposed NewHospital of Sabah MedicalCentre on T.L. 017553221(Lot 2), Off Jalan DamaiLuyang, Kota Kinabalu,Sabah with contract amountof RM9.0 million andcompletion in February2011.

Bina Puri Holdings Bhd – TimSekata Sdn Bhd (BPHB-TSSB) wasawarded by Syarikat PrasaranaNegara Berhad, the Main ContractWorks for Construction andCompletion of Facilities Works(PackageA) for theAmpang (AMG)Line Extension Project and theNominated Sub-Contract for theFabrication and Delivery ofSegmental Box Girders (PackageA)for Ampang (AMG) Line ExtensionProject.

The Light Rail Transit (LRT) LineExtension Project involves a 17kmextension of the Kelana Jaya Linebetween Kelana Jaya station andPutra Heights in Puchong (13 newstations) and a 17.7km extension ofthe Ampang Line between SriPetaling to Putra Heights with 13

new stations. Putra Heights will bean interchange station connectingboth lines. BPHB-TSSB will carry out‘Package A’ of the Ampang linewhich will be a new 7.4km stretchfrom the Seri Petaling station toStation No. 5 (Jalan Kinrara).

The scope of works for the MainContract include all guideway sub-structure and main structure works,foundation work for stations andtraction power sub-stations (TPSS),to launch and install segmental boxgirders and to supply and installparapets and noise barriers. Thesub-contract work involvesfabrication and delivery of thesegmental box girders (SBGs). Thetotal contract sum is RM702.3 miland the works shall resume byJanuary 2011.

Sports Club Activities

In conjunction withthe Ramadhan fasting monthand Aidilfitri, Sports and Social Club of Bina Puri(East Malaysia Region) organised an Iftar(breaking of fast) and Aidilfitri celebration on 3rd

September 2010 at Bina Puri Kota Kinabaluregional office.

“Aidilfitri, colours and friend” was the theme ofthe ceremony chosen with the guests dressedbeautifully in their baju kurung (Malaytraditional costume).

The ceremony was filled with acoustic Aidilfitrisongs and the guests were served with asumptuous dinner.

All Bina Puri staff at Kota Kinabalu regionaloffice and representatives from Kuching andBrunei offices were the guests of the ceremony.

AIDILFITRI CELEBRATION By Siti Zaharah Madlan

Bina Puri Sport & Social Club sponsored andcontributed souvenirs for the Annual Luncheonof Selangor King George V Silver Jubilee Fund inCommemoration of The Senior Citizens’ Day on24thOctober 2010. This home is a refuge for poorand aged women who are all homeless, have nodependents and without any support from theirfamily members. This home that shelters suchunfortunate women is located at Jalan Jubilee,off Jalan Loke Yew in Kuala Lumpur.

The luncheon started at 12 noon with variousentertainment such as karaoke, lucky draw,service award etc. They invitedYB Senator TeresaKok as the guest of honor.

Our representatives also played a role inentertaining the elderly folk with a ‘live band’and accomponied with a tambourine. All of us

had an enjoyable time with the participantsduring the luncheon.

Bina Puri Sport & Social Club (East Malaysiabranch) organized an outing to Pulau Sapilocated just off the coast of Kota Kinabalu for itsmembers and families on Sunday, 1st August2010. It was a mere 10 minutes boat ride fromthe city of Kota Kinabalu. Sapi Island is part ofthe TunkuAbdul Rahman Marine National Park inSabah.

A variety of water sports were available forparticipants e.g. parasailing, banana boat, seawalking, jet ski and others. The happy islandgoers were treated to a hearty buffet BBQ lunchbefore continuing snorkeling or just relaxingaround the beautiful island.

DAY TRIP TO PULAU SAPI, SABAH

The Bina Puri Sport & Social Club (East Malaysia)organised a trip to Hong Kong from 5th to8th November 2010, taking advantage of theDeepavali public holiday which fell on5th November 2010. The participants includedclub members and their spouses/friends fromSabah, Brunei andWest Malaysia.

Spending their time there, they got into groups todine on Hong Kong’s delicious food at variouswell-known restaurants

They stayed around the Tsim Sha Tsui area,Kowloon and delighted themselves in learningand using the modern and reasonably cheap

public transportations such as the subway train,ferry and bus to visit places away from Kowloon.They visited Hong Kong’s Disneyland at SunnyBay and Big Buddha at Ngong Ping, both onLantau Island.

They also spent some time at the marine-themedamusement park known as Ocean Park inAberdeenm, Hong Kong. Something interestingabout the Ocean Park was that, visitors wereconnected by cable cars to reach different zonesthe park. Besides this, visitors also move aroundthe park using the world’s second longestoutdoor escalator. Also in the park, there is ashark tank and a three-storey aquarium.

They also had the opportunity to dine at NorthPoint, the northern part of Hong Kong Island.Madam Tussaud’sWax Museum at Victoria Peakwas also an attraction. Some of them went toMacao by ferry/hovercraft to do some shopping.At the Science Museum we were so excited atthe dinosaur exhibition.

When it was time to leave, some of them decidedto make another visit to Hong Kong as time wastoo short to fully enjoy the splendor of HongKong.

OVERSEAS TRIP TO HONG KONG By: Euphemia Thien

Sungai Long Sport & Social Club organized a daytrip to Melaka on 11th December 2010.45 participants including club members and theirfamilies spent a sweet time together to visitMini Malaysia and Mini ASEAN Park, crocodilefarm and Samudera museum. They also enjoyedriding the boat for a sight seeing along theMelaka River. Melaka is a small state inMalaysia, and world-renowned for her longhistory, historical sites, cultures and cuisines.Thetrip was among the activities organised by theclub to appreciate its members who belong toSungai Long Industries Sdn Bhd and Easy MixSdn Bhd.

After months of hard work, Bina Puri (Thailand)Ltd’s Sport & Welfare Club felt enthusiastic andthe need to recharge their energy level and sothey ran off for this “Pattaya Trip”.

Pattaya is a well-known scenery town inThailand. For a few newbies, it was the first timefor them to enjoy a trip with Bina Puri.They wentto Nongnuch Garden and some were veryimpressed with the beautiful scenery and a lotof cute animals especially the Thai Elephants.They really enjoyed the grand show.

After checking-in a hotel, they rushed to watchan amazing show called Alankarn Show.Unfortunately, the show was over in 30 minutes.So to overcome their frustration, they had asumptuous dinner at Phoo Phen restaurant, thebest dinner outlet in Pattaya, that is famous forits delicious seafood.

The next morning, they were very excited to goshopping at the “Four Part Thailand RiverMarket”. This market is very unique because thevisitors have to use boats to go from one stall toanother. After having lunch on the boat, theywent back to Bangkok.

For those who have yet to go to Pattaya, shouldyou get a chance to visit Thailand, make sure youinclude Pattaya in your plans.

A group of 20 participants took part in theMount Kinabalu Climbing from 17th to19th November 2010. Before the climb, theyspent a night at Kinabalu Park. They spent thetime with fun-filled mingling among themselves.The weather was clear during the first-half of theclimb as it started to rain in the afternoon.

Thankfully everyone made it up to Laban RataResthouse for a night stay before conquering thepeak. Spectacular views and a feeling ofaccomplishment greeted climbers at the peak..We made it again!

A friendly badminton match was organised byBina Puri (B) Sdn Bhd on the 22nd November2010 at the Dewan Masyarakat Pandan, KualaBelait.

This event was well participated by the staffs ofBEDB & Consultants of Bina Puri. However thegame ended with JKR having won the match,beating Bina Puri 8 - 5.

JKR is looking forward to have more suchmatches in the future.

57 members of Bina Puri Sport & Social Clubparticipated in the overseas trip to Jiuzhaiguo,China.

The trip was divided into two groups. The firstgroup was from 26th Nov to 2nd Dec 2010 (8 days7 nights) to Jiuzhaiguo, China(Chengdu~Huanglong ~ Jiuzhaigou ~ Leshan ~ Mt. Emei).Meanwhile, the second group was from 26th to30th October 2010 (5 days 4 nights) toJiuzhaiguo,China (Chengdu ~Huanglong ~ Jiuzhaigou)

Some of the interesting places visited wereDujiangyan and Panda Research Base. They alsoattended the Sichuan Face Changing and TibetanCultural show which are very famous in China.
