IimellnesI Commencement of Construction =April 21, 2014Contract requires completion of all work,with the exception of surface course paving and final line striping,on NJ Ave between the southern MDL and Charleston Avenue from June 23, 2014 through August 30, 2014 as necessary for the safety and operation of the school. Project completion date,weather permitting is June 30, 2015. The overall project is currently approximately 30% complete. The new sanitary pump station isapproximately 60% complete.All work,with the exception of the surface course paving and final line striping on NJ Avenue between the MDL and Charleston Avenue is complete.Bayview Drive between the MDL and Newark Avenue is complete,with the exception of the surface course paving and line striping. The water utility improvements are completed on Pacific Avenue between Rambler and Lavender Roads,with the exception of replacement of a few fire hydrants.The contractor will resume work on the section of Pacific Avenue between Lavender Road and Cresse Avenue next week.The contractor is currently working on NJ Avenue between Charleston and Hollywood Avenues.He contractor will complete all utility work between Charleston and Syracuse Avenues in order to get ahead of the concrete and road reconstruction crews and then the concrete contractor will remobilize.The contractor will maintain disturbed areas as necessary until the concrete and roadwork is completed in each section.At this time we anticipate the utility work to be completed in February 2015, concrete work to be completed in May 2015 and all roadwork completed by the end of June 2015. During the course of construction several one-way east-west streets will need to temporarily become two-way streets in order for detours to function and for local traffic to access their properties.Starting the week of September 8, 2014 the contractor will implement the overall NJ Avenue detour and close NJ Ave,except for local traffic,between St.Louis Avenue and Rambler Road.Pacific Avenue should be utilized for north-south travel south of Rambler Road and Bayview Drive can be utilized for south travel.Property owners should anticipated occasional scheduled water service interruptions.The contractor will provide notice at least 24 hours in advance of scheduled shutdowns.Unfortunately,in construction it is not uncommon for older water lines to break and/ or leak,which would require and unscheduled shutdown and interruption of water service.The contractor will work diligently to restore water service as quickly as possible when interrupted. it is expected the new sanitary pump station at Topeka Avenue will be in operation by the end of October 2014.Pacific Avenue water utility improvements between Lavender Road and Cresse Avenue will resume next week.Work will take about 3 weeks to complete.Roadway reconstruction of the east side of Pacific Avenue is anticipated to be commenced in late October and completed in November 2014. It is noted South Jersey Gas Company (SJG) is replacing the natural gas mains and services on Pacific Avenue between Stanton Road and Cresse Avenue and we need to await their completion prior to commencing the roadwork.Currently SJG is working from south to north and they are working between Rambler and LotusRoads at this time. Property owners within the construction limits should anticipate the inability at times to access their driveways,but the contractor will do whatever is possible to restore driveway access each evening,when working in front of your property.Driveway access will be interrupted for approximately one week when the new concrete is poured,as necessary for proper curing time of the concrete.Property owners will receive additional notices periodically form the contractor advising them of the various stages of work and when the work will be at each location.
