PREFACEASSALAMU ALAIKUMWelcome to our annual Project Report 2019, a summary of our major work around the world in the last financial year (April 2018 to end of March 2019).
It is part of our feedback process to show how your generous donations have been used to improve the quality of life, directly and indirectly, for some of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable communities.
The last year proved to be a record, in terms of donor support and the number of beneficiaries you supported – the equivalent of nearly 3.5 million people. For example, we were able to deliver aid on your behalf to the equivalent of 2.5 million Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh; our Ramadan and Qurbani programmes reached more than half a million beneficiaries, while our core water provision programmes benefited more than 300,000 people.
Beneficiaries of your generosity exceeded six-figures in countries like Tanzania and Cameroon; you sponsored 450 Palestinian orphans to go on Umrah, and you continued supporting tens of thousands of Syrian refugees in Jordan.
These are just a few examples of how you have supported our work around the world. To all of you, we offer our humble thanks. May you be rewarded in this and the next life for your generosity and sacrifices, and may you continue your support in improving the lives of people in need.

UMRAH FOR ORPHANS
Since our first Umrah for Orphans trip in 2015 we have, thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, taken nearly 2,200 Palestinian orphans – including disabled children – on this most memorable journey of their young lives.
Umrah for Orphans is part of the psycho-social support we provide for the children being sponsored or cared for in our global orphans’ sponsorship programme.
450 Palestinian orphans – boys and girls - on Umrah
January 2019 marked the fifth year of our unique
Umrah for Orphans programme with 350
Palestinian orphans from Jordan and 100 from Al Quds (Jerusalem) travelling to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah shareef.
The Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah Be Upon Him) said: “The one who cares for an orphan and myself will be together in Paradise like this,” and he held his two fingers together to illustrate.

WATER
The provision of WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) is another of our core programmes that benefits thousands of families around the world.

IH IN THE UK A lot of our work in helping people in need across the world depends on the dedication and commitment of fundraisers, especially in the UK.
Staff and volunteers are constantly engaged throughout the year in organising and participating in activities - ranging from fun runs and cake sales to marathons and mountain climbs – to support our global programmes and to engage even more people in supporting our causes.

MISSION POSSIBLE
Our flagship volunteering programme, Mission Possible, is the humanitarian experience of a lifetime. Each year, volunteers undertake a life-changing humanitarian journey, from fundraising - to meet the cost of their overseas deployment and the aid they will deliver - to planning and then directly delivering that aid.
It allows them to experience how a single donation can make a huge difference to the life of someone in real need. In 2018, 8 volunteers from the UK went on deployment to Tanzania and delivered programmes to benefit 11,236 people in Lushoto and Mkinga districts.
Volunteers carry out programmes in education, health, water and sanitation, livelihood and community awareness on diseases and environmental issues.
