1. Locate a head shot (ex: Mona Lisa) via Creative Commons search at Flickr.com (URLs must be logged)

• Celebrity pics, self-portrait• Can be an animal or person2. RESIZE:

• Crop to square, resize to 2.5 inches by 2.5 inches at 72 ppi• Crop to rectangle, resize to MAX 2.5 in wide x 3 in tall @ 72

ppi• ***You will use this resized image in a 3 x 3 grid. These

dimensions ensure it will fit on a printed page for display

Page 8: Project Pop Art

3. CREATE a new PSE4 project:• SQUARES: canvas 7.5 in by 7.5 in @ 72 ppi• RECTANGLES: canvas 7.5 in by 9 in @ 72 ppi4. Your center square should be the cropped, resized square

from # 25. At least 4 of your squares should feature images with the

background cropped out (wand/lasso) and replaced6. The remaining 4 can feature filter effects, placement of

props, etc

PSE4 tips:Create a new PSE4 project that matches the dimensions of your

resized headshotCopy and paste your headshot with the background cropped out

via magic wand/lasso into this project so it appears on layer 1 over the plain white background layer

This way you can adjust the background using the cropped headshot as a mask

PSE4 tips:When you are done modifying a headshot and are read to copy

it to your main 3 x 3 canvas, you will likely need to “merge visible”

To do this, right click anywhere in the layers pane. In the menu that comes up, select “merge visible”

It will combine all your layers into one so you can copy all layers at once into your 3 x 3 canvas
