• Difficulty in getting full community commitment in some areas without an immediate benefit in sight
• Contractors difficult to manage as contracts generally lack penalties for defaults – provisions are generally for agreeable settlements
• Budget estimates require a wider market survey and consideration of currency fluctuations
• There is generally the habit of price inflations by vendors
• Field activities, e.g. construction works, are better managed outside the rainy season
S u c c e s s S t o r i e s • There was great passion and appreciation of the
mangrove restoration exercise by the oyster collectors
• The training on building of culture racks as an environmentally friendly oyster collection technique was highly received
• The supply of 28 pirogues to oyster collectors is expected to have significant positive impact on the livelihoods of the women
• The adoption at the national level of the study report on integrated coastal area management will enhance coastal area management if finally implemented
