London Power Tunnels – Risk Brief In order to ensure the London Power Tunnels project is successful, all risks must be considered, monitored and counteracted. This brief outlines potential risks, correct methods of management in accordance to each risk, and the consequences of ineffective risk management. Project Initiation Notify and consult stakeholders – Planning Act 2008, Localism Act 2011. Get feedback from local stakeholders Contact local authorities for approval. Monitor all risks throughout the project for evaluation, to improve future risk management. Project Planning Minimize worksites from places of significance/public places - Section 38 and Schedule 9 of the Electricity Act 1989 Minimize environmental impact – pollution/noise pollution/construction traffic. May have to agree mitigation measures if worksites/environmental impact cause negative impact. EMF Fields – no power cables under buildings Health and Safety policies set – employees fully qualified and briefed Project Execution Reasonable working conditions for employees – regular shaft intervals in tunnels Public health and safety – signs, barriers…etc. Ban public access. Brief visiting contractors on health and safety when visiting sites – hard hats…etc. Comply with power cable exposure limits to minimize EMF field effects. Project Closure Meet mitigation measures met with stakeholders – may involve repairing environment…etc. Evaluate and review the management of risks throughout the project, to minimalize bad management in future projects.
