PROJECT HIGHLIGHTSEnergy efficiency is a key feature of the design of Reagan Education Center. The heating, cooling, and electrical lighting systems exceed energy code requirements, thereby reducing annual power consumption and utility costs.
WATER EFFICIENCY■ Installation of high efficiency plumbing fixtures.■ 50% reduction in plant irrigation water usage.
ENERGY & ATMOSPHERE■ 20% reduction in energy costs. ■ Use of occupancy sensors.■ Reduced lighting power density
MATERIALS & RESOURCES■ Interior materials are low-maintenance and high-quality to reduce operational costs. ■ Exterior materials are durable and low maintenance. ■ Corrugated metal will be used for most of the second floor of the school.■ Extruded aluminum canopies for the bus and auto drop-off locations.
INDOOR ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY■ Classrooms provide a healthy environment with lower life-cycle costs, lessening environmental
impact.■ Enhanced commissioning performed on the building, pressure testing of mechanical system, duct
protection during construction and building envelope commissioning.
INNOVATION AND DESIGN■ Masonry face brick, as well as aluminum/glass windows, store fronts and doors will be used to
reduce the amount of exterior painting required. ■ 20% of building materials designed to be of recycled content.■ Construction waste management performed by the contractor.
