is a fictional company that is headed by Irish little magma M. Madlos. The companyaims toDevelop the power within you. it only means that we, the EcoMagma Corp. willalways maximize the usage of every thing in this world.

    EcoMagma Geothermal Power Plant

    - is a geothermalpower station in Sitio Lejano, Philippines. The facility is located177 m (581 ft) above sea level in Sitio Lejano, near its Volcano.Plans for utilizing/establishing geothermal powerplant in Sitio Lejano began in January2013. Knowing Sitio Lejano, they really need impovements so that its strategic location

and wonderful resources would be used efficiently. Developing the location would reallymake them one of the best tourist spots in the world that is why we really pursue puttingup a power plant within the vicinity of the said area.

How will the energy be produced or harnessed?

To harness the energy, deep holes are drilled into the earth (much like when drilling foroil) until a significant geothermal hot spot is found. When the heat source has beendiscovered, a pipe is attached deep down inside the hole which allows hot steam fromdeep within the earths crust to rise up to the surface. The pressurized steam is thenchanneled into a turbine which begins to turn under the large force of the steam. Thisturbine is linked to the generator and so the generator also begins to turn, generatingelectricity. We then pump cold water down a new pipe which is heated by the earth andthen sent back up the first pipe to repeat the process.

Sitio Lejano is a volcanic island with rich vegetation. This place has short streams and afew small ponds. Waterfalls abound on most part of the island that is

why building a Geothermal Powerplant within the island is very suitable for the locationof Sitio Lejano.

How will it affect the island?

Geothermal power plants do not burn fuel to generate electricity, so their emission levels

are very low. They release less than 1 percent of the carbon dioxide emissions of a fossilfuel plant. Geothermal plants use scrubber systems to clean the air of hydrogen sulfidethat is naturally found in the steam and hot water. Geothermal plants emit 97 percent lessacid rain - causing sulfur compounds than are emitted by fossil fuel plants. After thesteam and water from a geothermal reservoir have been used, they are injected back intothe earth. Therefore direct use and heating applications have almost no negative impacton the island.

What makes it better than other sources?

Geothermal power plants are used for production of electricity from geothermal energy. The traditional thermal power plants need fuel for generating electricity while geothermalpower plants don't need fuel.

Geothermal energy is the energy stored below the earths crust. Due to heat below theearths crust water gets heated and also sometimes gets converted into steam. This hotwater and steam can be used for generating electricity. Here are the things that I could saythat Geothermal Power Plant is better than the other power plants.

    1) No fuel is required: The thermal and nuclear power plants use fossil and nuclear fuelsrespectively to heat water and generate steam for production of electricity. Thegeothermal power plants use the readily available hot water from the geothermal reservoirso no fuel is required.

    2) Clean source of power: The fuels used in conventional thermal power plants producelots of toxic gases and particulate matter polluting the surrounding atmosphere.Electricity can be produced from geothermal reservoir without creating any air-pollution.

    3) Less area is required: The land required for the geothermal power plant per megawattof power produced is much lesser than that required for the other types of power plants.

    4) Unhindered production of power: The energy from geothermal reservoir is available24 hours a day and all the days of the year without any breakage or change duringvarying seasons, natural disaster and political turmoil. Thus geothermal energy is thereliable source for producing electricity continuously without any hindrance.

How much will be the cost of production?

According to studies, an economically competitive geothermal power plant can cost aslow as $3400 per kilowatt installed. (1) While the cost of a new geothermal power plant ishigher than that of a comparable natural gas facility, in the long run the two are similarover time. This is because natural gas construction costs account for only one third of thetotal price of the facility, while the cost of the fuel at a natural gas facility represents twothirds of the cost. The initial construction costs of a geothermal facility, in contrast, represent two thirds or more of total costs. So although initial investment is high for

geothermal, natural gas and geothermal are still economically comparable over a longterm.

    Renewability and Sustainability

Geothermal power is considered to be renewable because any projected heat extraction is

    12/13

small compared to the Earth's heat content. The Earth has an internal heat content of1031

joules (31015 TWhr). About 20% of this is residual heat fromplanetary accretion, and the

remainder is attributed to higher radioactive decay rates that existed in the past. [2] Natural

heat flows are not in equilibrium, and the planet is slowly cooling down on geologic

timescales. Human extraction taps a minute fraction of the natural outflow, often without

    accelerating it.

Geothermal power is also considered to be sustainable thanks to its power to sustain the

Earths intricate ecosystems. By using geothermal sources of energy present generations

of humans will not endanger the capability of future generations to use their own

resources to the same amount that those energy sources are presently used. Further, due toits low emissions geothermal energy is considered to have excellent potential for

    mitigation of global warming.

Even though geothermal power is globally sustainable, extraction must still be monitored

to avoid local depletion. Over the course of decades, individual wells draw down local

temperatures and water levels until a new equilibrium is reached with natural flows.
